we are so back

Last semester ended with so much drama. It was definitely not supposed to be that way, but I made some lifelong friends, got pulled out of KISS, and... I fell for Min Ho.

It's crazy how much can happen in just a semester.

When I left for winter break, I thought it was for good. New York. New start. Maybe even say hi to Kitty's sister, Lara Jean. But of course, someone was furious. So, here I am, back in Seoul, one month later.

I never thought Min Ho would call his Dad—who he hates—just to get me back in. His Dad took some sort of deal with the school, and my new queen Principal Lee called mine to sort things out (adult to adult, because god knows my parents don't listen to me).

It was a whole new semester, and I was going to make the most of it.

"MIN HO!"

The second my feet hit the campus, he was already there, waiting for me with that smirk on his face. Without hesitation, I broke into a sprint, practically hurling myself into his arms. He caught me effortlessly, laughing as he spun me around.

There hadn't been a single day where we didn't text over the break, but it still wasn't the same as physically being with him. Hearing his laugh in person was a thousand times better.

"Heyy! I missed you!" he exclaimed, his voice warm and genuine as he gently set me back on the ground. My heart ran a marathon just from that.

"New hair?" I observed, grinning and flicking a strand out of his face. "It looks good!" Good was an understatement.

"I got it just for you, sasaeng," he teased.

"Can we PLEASE leave that in last semester?" I groaned, though I couldn't help but laugh. "I'm not the one who stalks Instagram accounts at 2 am."

His jaw dropped dramatically, hand flying to his chest like I'd just mortally wounded him. "Excuse me? I am an investigative journalist, not a stalker."

"Right, because scrolling through my story highlights for an hour AND LIKING ALL OF THEM just to send me a thousand notifications totally counts as research," I recalled, raising my eyebrows.

"You know, I was just making sure no one was trying to claim you while I was gone," he replied casually, leaning down slightly to meet my eyes.

My cheeks burned, and I pushed him away to cover it up. "Let's not be possessive, now."

"Nope. I'm just being helpful."

I glanced at my suitcase still sitting by the taxi and smiled mischievously. "So, why don't you make yourself actually helpful and carry my stuff? Or did you go into hibernation over the winter break, and you can't lift a mere suitcase now?"

"Oh, a challenge," he mused, playing along with my teasing with raised brows. "You're right; maybe I can't lift it, but only because you literally pack more clothes than me."

I shoved him, and he grabbed my suitcase handle with one hand and slung my duffel bag over his shoulder like it weighed nothing. "Fine," he huffed, "But you owe me a date for this."

I laughed, the familiar presence of the school feeling more comforting than before, and realizing how good it felt to be back. Wow, I thought with a sigh. I'm glad he called his dad.

"I think I owe you more than one."

When I walked into the assembly (late), Principal Lee had already begun his speech. Rows of students were seated in orderly lines, and I quickly scanned the room to notice Yuri and Juliana sitting next to two empty seats. Oddly enough, Kitty was sitting further up next to two girls I had never seen before, and Q was sitting behind Kitty.
