Sophie Foster POV:
The thing grabbed onto my leg pulled me as I fell into the darkness.
But a few seconds later I fell to the hard, uneven ground with a thud.
What just happened? I thought, as I tried to stand up.
I heard distant yelling, and spells being shot from overhead me.
Where am I? Where are the others? How do I get back to them? A million worries flooded my head as I got up and my eyes adjusted, and I could see my surroundings.
But what I saw terrified me.
I was in a big room covered in leafy vines which all writhed with each step I took, but
The ground looked as if it was feet deep in them, and I stumbled to walk on the bumpy layers of plants.
Okay. Stay calm Sophie. I thought. But then I got an idea. I'll have to contact someone-
But just then, I heard another thud a few feet behind me.
"Stupid– vine- Ugh!" said the voice behind me.
"Keefe?" I said, turning around to see the mischievous blond boy tangled in a group of thick, thrashing vines.
"Right here! Can I get a little help here, Foster? I think these dumb, leafy, plants are trying to steal my perfect looks," he replied with a smile.
I rolled my eyes at his joking and helped him get untangled from the vines. They whipped and shot at our hands as we worked with them together.
But a second later, he was free.
"Ah, thanks Foster," he said, brushing off his Hogwarts uniform with his hands. "You have saved me, once again,"
"You're welcome, Keefe," I said back to him.
The distant sounds of our friends yelling, spells being shot, abilities being used, and vines cracking against the walls like whips filled my ears.
But that didn't stop my mind from wandering to our conversation earlier.
"Sophie?" called Keefe as we walked over to the next chamber.
"Yeah?" I replied, distracted with all the 100 different situations going on in my head.
"This is a terrible time, but I feel like I should tell you something," he looked down at his wizard's shoes. "I just feel like I should,"
I looked at him, puzzled. "Go on," I said. Wondering what he meant with all those words.
He noticed my expression, and hesitated for a second. "It's just that, we've known each other for so long, and now we're here. The Neverseen have finally done something that could actually risk the-"
"Keefe," I said, seeing how this was going to go. "We all will end up back in the Lost Cities. I can promise that to you," I touched his shoulder, feeling like he was the one to usually comfort me, so it was my turn to do the same. "Everything will be fine,"
I snapped back to reality and judging from Keefe's face, he was thinking about the same thing.
What did he mean though? He was clearly worried, but something in his tone was different.
I then heard another thud to see that this time it was Biana that fell. She quickly untied herself from the vines, and got up, brushing off her perfect uniform, which glittered as bright as her, even in the scariest of times.
