For the first day of summer break, she thought it would be a lot more fun. She felt a little jealous of her other friends who were sending awesome pictures of them simply relaxing for the first day. She was always so happy for them, but not much happiness can be shown when you're sitting in a waiting room. The dim flickering light on the ceiling made the walls feel like they were caving in on her. Her legs were bouncing up and down as she set her palm on her thighs to stop them from shaking. Her throat felt so dry as a million thoughts ran across her mind, and she felt a stinging in her eyes as loose clothing began to feel even more loose. She felt like she was drowning.
𝒟𝒾𝓃𝑔!
Miko paused as a message came through her phone. All her fears seem yo slip her mind as she smiled down at her phone.
Kurona ^o^
Goodluck! <3
"Itoshi?"
The black hair girl perked up with the sound of her name. The doctor was a beautiful older woman who sent her a soft smile as she waved Miko over. The girl was slightly fearful and was frozen in place until a hand rested on her shoulder and pulled her along. Rin pushed her along as they brought her to measure her height and weight. Unfortunately, her weight was still lower than it needed it to be to be considered healthy, but the doctor told her it could be a few more months before such things could happen.
Even after being in remission, the checkups and treatments don't stop. Symptoms of treatments can include things as extreme weakness and weight loss. Unfortunately, both of which Miko disliked because she hated not being able to walk on her own and feeling so weak. She hoped that she wouldn't have to get treatments again. They usually only did it when her blood cell count was starting to act up.
Her mother and Rin sat in the room's chairs as the doctor pulled her aside to take some of her blood. When they were done, Miko was feeling slightly uneasy as they returned to the room. The questions were mundane usual questions she had been asked hundreds of times. Although it would be about two hours later before they got her test results back.
When the doctor came into the room, she held an unexpressive face, but Miko could already tell what it meant. She stared down at her hands as Rin sat beside her and the doctor read off the results. Unusual blood count. It didn't mean she was completely out of remission, but it did mean she have to take treatments to get it under control before it got worse. Getting treatments were awful because of the symptoms she'd receive.
Fortunately, it looked like it just some treatment it could get back under control.
Well, you can't always win. Two weeks of horrible symptoms was always better than going into a relapse.
Rin sighed as he placed Miko into the backseat of the car. Treatments always managed to knock her right out after use for a few hours. Which meant she turned into a whiny, clingy brat as she rested on Rin's shoulder. Although he didn't mind all that much. His thoughts were more concerned with how she'd act once she woke up; a few years ago, the symptoms used to be so bad, she'd be bedridden for weeks. Unable to walk to hardly being able to hold a cup.
Although, her smile never once faltered. It was surprising to enter her room after she had a bad treatment and suddenly see a weak beaming smile. Maybe that was her nature. To always be so considerate of others, even when she needed it most. He still remembered that day.
He sighed and stared out at the gloomy clouds and light rain. In fact, the weather had been about the same. He had come back from practice and was soaking from the rain. He had picked up his dinner and was about to wash his clothes when he heard a thud. It had been so quiet, but when he realized where it was coming from, the noise seemed to drill into his head. Repeating like a broken record until Sae had come to snap his out of his thoughts. He swore he had never run so fast before, he doubt he ever will or ever has too again. He was quite scared when he saw Miko laying on the ground.
