Alexander’s Penthouse – Evening

Alex walks into his luxurious penthouse, the panoramic view of the city behind him gleaming in the evening lights. He tosses his jacket onto the couch and sinks into a plush armchair, a rare, genuine smile lighting up his face. Mason, his secretary, is already present, sorting through some files. He notices Alex’s unusually cheerful demeanor.

Mason: (smirking) Well, this is new. Alexander Van Derlyn… smiling? What happened? Did the sun rise from the west today?

Alex: (snapping out of his thoughts, still smiling faintly) Don’t push it, Mason.

Mason: (grinning) I’m guessing this has something to do with Siya!

Alex: (his expression softens, but he quickly brings back his serious tone) Enough with the personal remarks. What’s the update on the attackers?

Mason’s grin fades as he steps forward, holding a tablet with detailed reports.

Mason: (calmly) We’ve been analyzing call logs, and we’ve found something interesting. One of the attackers repeatedly received calls from a specific location—near a café close to Derlyn Enterprises.

Alex: (leaning forward, his smile replaced by a hardened look) Near the office?

Mason: (nodding) Yes. The number has made several calls over the last month, and it matches our timeline of the attacks.

Alex: (his tone sharp, his mind racing) So, you’re telling me someone from my office might be connected to this?

Mason: (hesitantly) It’s a possibility.

Alex leans back in his chair, his jaw tightening. His mind begins to sort through names—employees, associates, anyone who might have a reason to harbor resentment against him.

Alex: (coldly) It’s someone on the inside. That’s the only explanation. Someone who hates me enough to organize these attacks.

Mason stays silent, sensing Alex’s anger simmering beneath his composed exterior.

Alex: (after a pause, firmly) This doesn’t leave this room, Mason. Not a word to anyone. We’re close to figuring this out, and I won’t let anyone slip through the cracks.

Mason: (nodding) Understood. I’ll handle this personally and keep you updated.

Alex: (standing up, pacing) Whoever this is, they’ve made a mistake targeting me. We’ll find them, and when we do, they’ll regret it.

Mason watches his boss, a rare mix of fury and determination etched into his face. Despite Alex’s dangerous tone, Mason knows this isn’t just about business anymore- it’s personal.

Mason: (after a pause) You’ll get them, Alex. You always do.

Alex: (looking out the window, his voice low) Let’s just hope we’re not too late.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

As Mason gathers the files and leaves the penthouse, Alex’s thoughts shift momentarily to Siya. The memory of her smile brings a brief calm to his stormy thoughts. But it’s short-lived as his mind returns to the looming threat. Someone inside his world is out to destroy him, and Alex isn’t the kind of man to let that slide.
