The move back to California was easier than Violet thought it would be. And Theo didn't complain once for leaving Japan. He was honestly excited to meet someone – that day was special to Violet. Theo got to meet all his uncles and aunts and cousins, outside of Roman and Tej. They were still up in space at the time Han and Violet made the move back to California. They decided to leave Japan behind for the time being, maybe one day they'd return and make Japan their home again, but right now, Violet and Han wanted to be close to their family.
Today was no different.
It was a welcome home party for Roman and Tej – they finally were allowed to go home after their unplanned trip to space. Again, something that Violet couldn't explain to anyone without getting sideways looks. Violet knew this, and hoped that the next time they needed to do something crazy like that, it wasn't space.
The barbecue was in an hour, and everyone would be there. Even Sean, Twinkie, and Earl who were now officially members of the family. It was a big party today, something Violet missed so much since she left 1327 when she was eighteen. It would be weird being back with the whole family, but it was weirder having to explain that her and Han were actually alive.
Han came downstairs, hearing the TV playing softly in the background. As he entered the living room, he found Elle, Violet, and Theo on the couch. The first big purchase that Han and Violet made was a house, three streets away from 1327, and he found his family taking a nap on the couch. Han suspected that Theo must have fallen asleep on Violet's chest, which led Violet to close her eyes for a few minutes.
As for Elle, she was already sleep on the couch when Theo and Violet sat down after playing outside. Dom and Letty bought Theo so much outside equipment, and it was the place where all the kids played as someone watched them. It was the perfect place to keep the kids occupied as 1327 got rebuilt from the ground up.
Han placed his hands on the back of the couch, staring down at Violet. He leaned down, kissing her forehead. Violet's face scrunched up and her hands reached out as Han took Theo from her. Theo made some unhappy noises but didn't wake up. Violet yawned, sitting up from the couch. "When did I fall asleep?" Violet asked.
"After I went into the garage to clean out the car." Han said. Theo began to rub his face with his hand, starting to wake up. "Sorry, kid, did I wake you?"
"I'm tired, daddy."
"We have to get ready to go over to Uncle Dom's." That seemed to wake Theo right up. "You get to meet Uncle Rome and Uncle Tej today." Theo started to smile, snuggling into Han's neck.
Violet reached over, patting Elle's hand. Elle groaned, rolling over with the throw blanket. "I don't wanna." Violet chuckled at Elle's complaining. "Can't I sleep more?" Elle asked.
"You want to meet Sean, don't you?" Elle peeked around the blanket, nodding her head at Violet. "Let's go."
"We're gonna be last." Elle said as she sat up, stretching her arms over her head.
