There's No Turning Back (Luke Brooks)

Chapter 13

I lye in bed thinking about what I should do.. I can't go any longer without Luke not knowing. However I can't bring myself to tell him the truth. Every time I think about telling him I feel sick to my stomach, and I feel my head spin. I have been ignoring his calls and messages for a couple days now. All I want to do is be alone right now. I am tired of hearing what people have to say. It is all the same, "We are here for you. We support you". It doesn't change the fact that I am pregnant. I am so scared. I am so scared. I have no idea how I am going to do this. How I am going to get through this. How I am going to give birth to a child. How I am going to raise a child when I am so young. It doesn't feel like real life. I kept hoping that it is all a dream and when I pinch myself I will wake up. However there is no waking up from this nightmare.

I look down to the phone. 14 missed calls and 8 text messages from Luke just today. He has been really worried and confused why I have been avoiding him. My phone vibrates in my hand, my heart skips a beat when I see the caller display. Luke is calling. I hover my thumb over ignore, but I move it is answer. Without thinking I press answer. I slowly lift the phone to my ear and take a deep breath before speaking.

"H-Hello", I quietly stutter.

"Kassy what the fuck! Did I do or say something? Why have you been ignoring me?".

"I haven't been ignoring you, my mom took away my phone for a few days", I quickly make up the lie.

Luke takes a relived breath,

"For fuck sakes Kassy I thought you wanted to break up with me. We haven't talked since the night at your house! I sorry if you are upset with what I said' I guess I haven't even expect us to last this long and I am always scared of losing you I don't like to look into the futur-".

I cut off Luke.

"Don't worry Luke I already forgot about it", I lie.

"So what are you doing tonight? I haven't seen you for what feels like forever? My brothers and my mum are going to be out tonight, maybe you can come over and maybe stay the night? Keep me company?".

"I don't know Luke".

"Okay, you don't have to stay the night. How about you come over?".

"I am not in the mood to go out", I answered.

"Then how about I come over? Are your parents going to be out by any chance".

I sit silent on the phone, "Luke I am not really feeling well, maybe next time".

"That is what you said last week. You are still sick? Is everything okay? I thought you went to the doctor and everything was okay. Is there something you aren't telling me".

I try to hold back the sob but I can't help it. I can tell Luke knows something is up, "Kassy talk to me.... Are you crying?", he questioned concerned.

I choke back a sob, "No, I am just really tired", I manage to answer.

"It doesn't seem like everything is okay. I am coming over to see you".

"No Luke! Please let me rest today! Hopefully I can see you tomorrow".

Luke sighs, "Okay fine". He doesn't sound to happy. "I miss you", He quietly spoke.

A small smile grows on my face, "I miss you too.

I can't believe Luke has no idea I am pregnant. I cannot go much longer without telling him. I have no idea how he will react. Why he will say. Will he be happy? Mad? Upset? I am so scared. I don't want him to ever find up because I am scared of the truth. The thrush is he will leave me and no matter how many times I try to convince myself he won't I know I am lying to myself.

My mother and I haven't been talking much since I found out I am pregnant. We have always been close, but recently I have been keeping my distance. I am locked up in my room most of the time so I can avoid her. I haven't been eating much lately either, however I been feeing sick and low on energy so I decided to go downstairs and make some lunch for myself. Now that I think about it, I have more then just myself that I need to feed. I walk into the kitchen hoping my mother isn't in there. I sigh as I notice her making lunch for herself. I take a deep breath and walk over to the fridge. I notice my mother look up as she hears me enter the room.

"Your father is coming home today", she spoke.

I ignore my mother as I open the fridge scanning the inside looking for something to eat.

"I don't know how we are going to tell him, but we can do it together".

I roll my eyes.

"Don't pretend like you care", I mumble under my breath.

"Tell me what?", a hear a deep voice speak.

My mother and I both turn to see my father entering the room. I stand there frozen.

"Welcome home hunny", my mother spoke.

"What is it you two need to tell me", he repeated.

I take a deep breath as I slowly close the fridge. My mother glances over at me. I shake my head before running up the stairs. I cannot be here when she tells my father the news. I am daddy's little girl. What is he going to think when he found out daddy's little princess is pregnant. My father looks at me confused as I make my way up the stairs. I shut the door behind me and slide down my door. I don't want to be down there when she tells him. I listen carefully but I cannot hear much through the closed door. I open my open a crack and hear the yelling begin.

"She did what!", I hear my father yell.

"It can't be true! How is she pregnant! Who is the father !".

I don't hear my mother answer but I hear my father shout Luke's name. I have never hear my dad shout like this before. It frightens me, hearing him raise his voice. Shortly after I hear my dad shout some other curse words before slamming the front door shut. I hear him start his car and drive off. Moments later my mother comes running into my room, "Kassandra!", she shouts. "We have to go after your father!". I stand there confused, "Why? Where did he go?". "He is going after Luke!". My eyes widen and I feel my heart stop beating in my chest. I quickly grab my shoes and keys. "We have to stop him!".
