Chapter 37 Love

Chapter 37
Seto POV

"What do you mean you have to go back?" Brice asked me his arms crossed stubbornly as he stared me down.

I continued shoving clothes into my duffle bag before zipping it closed and tossing it on our bed.

"You don't understand Brice. Ghost needs me back in Europe." I explained walking to the mirror and carefully putting my snake bites in place.

Ghost needed me back in Europe for some big mission and of course I had to go.

"Well I need you here Seto. You've barely been back with us. You said you'd be with us for a month or more!"

I wish I didn't have to lie to him. I wish it wasn't like this. But I had to follow Ghost's orders or I would loose him and the kids forever. I'd do anything for my family.

"Well plans have changed!" I pulled on my jacket and buttoned it up half way before turning to face Brice.

The door to our room was shut and locked and he was standing in front of it. Our room was in the basement of this house so there were no windows to get out of. He was gonna make me fight threw him to get out of here.

"You're really just going to run off again? You leave us so often and so easily like it doesn't even hurt you to go." It does hurt me Brice. I wish I could just admit that it does. But emotions kill me inside. They are my only weakness.

"I'm just doing my job." My voice is emotionless and I'm struggling to keep the tears from flowing. I haven't cried since I was 5.

"Seto look me in the eyes." I raised my head and met his eyes, "Now tell me you'd rather choose your job over your family."

I stared into those beautiful eyes as the silence of the room surrounded us. I'd choose my family in a heartbeat if I had a choice. But I don't. The minute I disobey Ghost I loose my family, they loose their lives. I loose everything I've ever cared about.

"I choose my j-job." shit. I stuttered. Brice's eyes flashed concern and he moved closer to me tucking some hair behind my ear.

"Tell me what's going on Seto. Something's not right." His voice had so much concern and care. "Seto?" His voice sounded scared now as a small tear trickled down my cheek and dripped down to the floor.

His thumb came up to wipe it away but I turned my head to the side. I backed away and wiped the tear on my sleeve as more began to flow.

After years and years of all of this I was finally breaking down. I had finally cracked.

"He's blackmailing me." I wheezed pressing the palms of my hands against my eyes feeling the slight pain of my eyebrow bar pressing into my skin. "I do what he wants or he takes away everything I care about. That's why I leave so much."

Brice wrapped his arms around me and pulled me into his chest. I loved feeling so protected and loved and safe wrapped up in his arms.

"How long has he been threatening you?" I felt my body begin to shake and more tears flowed. I hated feeling so many emotions all at once. It just made my heart ache and hurt.

"Since we met." Brice gripped me tighter and one hand rubbed soothing circles against my back.

I felt so weak doing this. I felt weak every time I left my family. Leaving my little girls wondering where there dad was going off too. My son training to be just like me because he thinks I do so much good.

Ghost tried to build perfect soldiers but failed to realize we're all humans. Humans have emotions that never go away. He turned me into this heartless murderous creature who craved taking another persons life.

"He made me into a monster Brice!" I cried, "I do everything he asks, let him turn me into a monster who likes to kill, to protect you. I'd do anything to protect you. I love you so much."

For the longest time I just stand there with my face buried into his chest crying. Crying for all those years I wasn't allowed to cry. For all those times I should have stood up against Ghost but didn't. For my family that I would loose if I didn't follow orders.

"Your not a monster Seto. You have emotions, you know what he's making you do is wrong." I pulled away wiping my eyes once more.

"But I do what I have to do to survive." I turned away and picked up my duffle bag slinging it over my shoulder, "I will get us out of this Brice. You, me and the kids will be safe and they can grow up normally. Pull Isaac from the training program he's in and get the kids to pack up."

"Where are we gonna go?" He asked watching me carefully.

"I have a friend you guys are gonna stay with. I just have to make a call and she'll keep you guys safe while I deal with Ghost. I know for a fact he's blackmailing Deadlox the same way and I'm not letting the man I call a brother go threw everything I've gone threw." I walked forward and pressed a deep kiss to lips before heading for the door. "I'll call you with her info once I land in Europe."

"Alright. Please don't get yourself killed out there." I flashed him a forced smile.

"I won't." Then I headed out of the room and down the hall. I could hear the kids playing in Isaacs room. I tapped on the door before I entered.

"Hey kiddos daddy's leaving for a little while okay?" I said setting my bag down. Isabelle threw down her colored pencils and hopped up wrapping her arms around me tightly. Evelyn followed after doing the same.

"But daddy do you have to go so soon?" Eve whined sticking out her lower lip. I forced another smile and patted her head kneeling down so I could hug them both.

"It won't be as long this time. But you gotta be big girls for me okay? Brice is going to be taking you guys somewhere in a little while so you gotta pack up okay?" They nodded eagerly and hugged me again.

"Here daddy Izzy and I made you this" Eve handed me a piece of paper with a drawling on it. "It's a family photo! There's me and Izzy and Isaac and you and dad!" the picture was delicately drawn for someone of her age.

"Thank you girls it's beautiful." I folded it up and put it in my breast pocket of my jacket. "I'll keep it with me while I'm gone." I pressed a kiss to her forehead. "I love you Evelyn." I kissed Isabelle's forehead. "And I love you Isabelle."

"Love you daddy!" They said together before going past me and into their room across the hall leaving me alone with Isaac.

"So what's really going on?" He asked calmly, "Another mission?" I nodded picking up my bag and slinging it over my shoulder.

"Just standard. Ghost needs me back in Europe for a little while." Isaac walked closer and eyed me down. "Isaac Mathew Solace don't you dare start deducing me."

"Fine. But answer me this. Do you really love my dad? All you seem to do is leave us for work." I patted his shoulder.

"I do love your dad more than anything in the world. I'll promise you this right here right now. You keep an eye on him and your sisters very closely until I get back okay?" He watched me carefully but nodded his head. "If you can do that I promise you this will be the last time I leave this family."

"Forever? You'll stay forever?" He asked. I nodded and held out my hand to him.

"I promise if you can do that, when I come back I won't ever leave again." Isaac watched me for a moment before smiling and shaking my hand.

"You've got yourself a deal."

"Good now come give me a hug." He made a face but I hugged him tightly.

"Gah come on dad." I rolled my eyes.

"It won't kill you to hug me." He sighed defeated and hugged me back before we both pulled away. "Love you Isaac be safe."

"Yeah yeah love you to dad." I smiled and kissed his forehead like I'd done for his sisters before heading out the door.

I knew the minute I got to Europe I was going to have to face the man who raised me. He wanted to make me into a monster and use my family as blackmail.

Well if he wanted a monster so badly, then I'd show him how much of a monster I can be.
