The sun shone brightly over Khan Mansion as the family gathered for breakfast. The atmosphere was warm, yet there was a hint of sadness in the air. Today, Muskan was leaving for Hyderabad with Osman and Zainab, and Aman was trying his best to hide his emotions.

Muskan, who sat beside Aman, noticed his silence. Normally, he would be feeding her the first bite of breakfast, teasing her, or talking about his plans for the day. But today, he was unusually quiet, his eyes fixed on his plate.

"Aman, are you okay?" Muskan asked softly, placing her hand over his.

Aman quickly masked his emotions and smiled. "Of course, jaan. Just thinking about work."

Muskan knew better. She squeezed his hand gently, her heart aching for him.

Zainab, noticing the exchange, smiled warmly. "Muskan beta, are you excited to go back home?"

Muskan nodded, though her eyes flickered toward Aman. "Yes, Ammi. It has been a while since I met everyone. I'm looking forward to it."

Osman chuckled. "Hyderabad must be missing its princess."

Muskan smiled, but Aman remained silent.

After breakfast, the house staff brought their luggage downstairs. Aman stood up, taking Muskan’s suitcase himself.

"let's go," he said, his voice firm yet filled with reluctance.

Aman drove them to the private airport, his hands gripping the steering wheel tightly. Muskan stole glances at him, noticing how he was forcing himself to act normal.

Upon reaching the airport, Aman helped with the luggage, ensuring everything was properly arranged on his private jet.

Zainab and Osman walked ahead, giving them a moment alone.

Muskan turned to Aman. "Take care of yourself, okay?"

Aman exhaled deeply before pulling her into a hug. His arms wrapped securely around her, as if he didn’t want to let go.

Muskan sighed against his chest, closing her eyes. "I’ll miss you."

Aman didn't reply, but Muskan felt his breath hitch. She pulled back slightly and gasped when she saw his moist eyes.

"Aman, why are you crying?" she asked, cupping his face.

Aman immediately wiped his eyes and forced a chuckle. "Crying? No, I am not. It’s just… meri aankh me kuch chala gaya hai," he lied. (Something just got into my eyes)

Muskan smiled softly, shaking her head. "Liar."

Aman looked away, pretending to clear his throat. But before he could react, Muskan hugged him tightly. "Finish your work fast and come to me."

Aman hugged her back, burying his face in her hair. "I will, till then you have to take care of yourself."

Muskan pulled back and held his face. "I will. You don’t overwork yourself either, Mr. Khan."

He nodded, forcing a smile.

Zainab called for Muskan, signaling it was time to board.

With a heavy heart, Aman watched as Muskan, his mother, and his father walked toward the jet. He stood there until the plane took off, his heart aching with the pain of separation.

Taking a deep breath, Aman turned away and drove back to his office, trying to distract himself.

The office felt emptier than ever. Aman sat at his desk, staring at his phone every few minutes, waiting for a message from Muskan.

Hours passed, and there was nothing.

He sighed, rubbing his temples. "It’s been only a few hours, and she already forgot me," he murmured, shaking his head.

Just as he finished his sentence, his phone rang.

His heart leaped when he saw the caller ID—Jaan❤️.

A smile spread across his face as he immediately picked up.

"Assalamualaikum," Muskan’s soft voice greeted him.

"Walaikum Assalam," Aman replied, his voice warm.

"You didn’t message me," Aman said, feigning annoyance.

Muskan gasped. "It’s not like that, Aman! I finally met everyone after so long. We were sitting together, talking, and I didn’t get time to call you."

Aman sighed dramatically. "Hmm. Matlab I wasn’t important enough?"

Muskan pouted, though he couldn’t see her. "That’s not true, Aman. I missed you so much."

His heart softened. "I missed you too, jaan."

Muskan could sense his sadness. "Where are you? Did you have dinner?"

Aman bit his lip, closing his eyes. He knew what was coming. So he tried to lie. "Ye…yes, jaan. I had dinner and now I’m going to sleep."

Muskan immediately caught the lie. "Mr. Aman Khan, close your laptop and go eat dinner now!"

Aman chuckled, finally giving in. "Okay, madam. I’m going. Did you have your dinner?"

Muskan smiled. "Yes, we had dinner, and now I’m in my room."

The call continued for more than two hours. They talked about everything—her journey, how her family was, Aman's day, and random little things that made them laugh.

Eventually, Muskan yawned. "Aman, I’m feeling sleepy."

Aman smiled. "Okay, jaan, sleep."

Muskan was about to cut the call when Aman quickly said, "Don’t cut the call."

Muskan frowned. "Why?"

Aman smiled to himself. "I want to listen to you."

Muskan chuckled. "I’m going to sleep, Aman. Toh aap kisey sunoge?" (Who will you listen to now?)

Aman’s voice dropped to a soft whisper. "Aapki khamoshi ko sununga." (I'll listen to your silence)

A blush crept onto Muskan’s face.

"Aman…you’re too much."

He grinned. "Just love you too much, that’s all."

She sighed happily. "I’m cutting the call, and you also sleep. You have to go to the office tomorrow."

Aman groaned. "Ugh. Okay, good night. Love you."

He kissed the phone screen, making Muskan giggle.

Muskan stretched her hands. "Love you itna saara," she said, making him chuckle.

"Good night, jaan," Aman said.

"Good night, jaan ki jaan," Muskan whispered, before they finally hung up.

Aman placed his phone on the night stand and walked toward the closet. He opened the drawer and pulled out one of Muskan’s dupattas.

He wrapped it around his hand, inhaling its scent. It smelled just like her—warm, sweet, and comforting. He lay down, holding the dupatta close, and finally drifted off to sleep.

On the other side, Muskan smiled to herself, opening her bag. She secretly took one of Aman’s shirts before leaving, hiding it from him. Now, she pulled it out and slipped it on, the fabric feeling like a warm hug. Holding onto the sleeves, she closed her eyes and whispered, “Miss you, Aman,” before falling asleep.

And just like that, even miles apart, they found comfort in each other’s presence.
