Though it had been a tiring day for Kazemi, the palms of her hands felt numb to the touch due to the reckless and endless training they had had the past few hours. There, she stood amongst her classmates—though farther away as usual—in preparation for the test of courage. Mina, Sero, Denki, Kirishima, and all the others who had been part of the remedial class were taken away—forcefully, some might add—due to having extra lessons for the night, which Kazemi would love to have rather than walking through the forest in the middle of the night.
The class would be walking in pairs, wandering through the dark forest, hoping to be scared by class B—who hid amongst the trees or grounds, depending on how their quirk worked.
Kazemi hoped to get someone who wasn't annoying, as most of the class were. She grabbed the paper strip indicating who she'd be paired up with. Her eyes scanned the grounds, waiting for someone to call the number she had pulled.
Although, due to her unfortunate luck—which seemed to never be on her side recently—she had been paired with Aoyama.
Within the forest winds and rustles of the leaves, all she could hear was him blabbering about the ghosts that were to pop up despite the students of class B being far away from the two—as Kazemi could tell since she had located all the students of the other class quickly, slightly cheating with her quirk since she didn't bother with the test anyway.
She'd never talked with Aoyama, not even once. Even if she did, Kazemi would probably have forgotten by now. His bright—almost physically sparkling—personality was too much for her to handle, as most of the class was. Her eyes roamed the darkness before she raised her head to the sky. The moon had shown its face and lit the sky and ground slightly.
Although the stars were bright as day, smoke began to fill the air, covering most of the sky before it roamed the ground. It only took seconds before Kazemi could realize what was happening.
Trees around them had started to burn in a bright blue fire. Ashes that came from the burnt trees filled their nostrils as the winds grew stronger. Kazemi shielded her eyes from the debris, watching the fires grow stronger.
"What's happening?!" Kazemi grunted, attempting to turn around to return back to camp. But all she was faced with was more fire.
Aoyamas eyes filled with fear as he watched the girl find a way for them to escape, his body shivered with every gust of wind.
Kazemi scanned the trail, realizing that an area had avoided the fires—at least for now. She turned to Aoyama, watching him shake in fear before calling him out.
"We have to go, now!" She exclaimed, trying to grab his arm to pull him away.
Aoyama flinched, swatting his hands away from the girl before he replied. "I can't!" He exclaimed, sitting back. "You go without me— I'll be fine here!"
"Are you crazy?" Kazemi exclaimed again, feeling the fires behind her back grow stronger as the heat touched her skin. "You're gonna die here."
He shook his head quickly, "I'll be fine— just leave me here. You can go save the others!"
The girl clicked her tongue before running towards the trees she spotted just a few seconds before, though her steps faltered before she turned back to the blonde—watching him hide amongst the bushes in an attempt to hide—before running again into the wilderness.
