Waking up,
getting dressed,
running to
catch the bus.
Ride to school,
go to your first class,
repeat until
2:30 in the afternoon.
Do your homework,
grab a snack,
study for that chemistry final
coming up next week.
These are the things
that keep you young,
preserve your youth,
keep your soul free.
Every hour,
every minute,
every second
of every day.
You may not notice,
but your skin is getting looser,
your eyes are slowly sinking,
your body is slowing down.
You are aging,
getting older
and redefining
what you appear to be.
But just take a moment
to remember those frozen scenes
of freedom,
of youth,
of happiness,
and hold on to them.
Because we all grow up,
we are all getting old.
But that doesn’t mean
our souls can’t be young.
