Ava's P.O.V

Once it was closer to my date with Calum, I went into the room I was sharing with Michael to get ready for it.

I took a shower, I blew my hair dry, I ran a flat iron through it & then I did my usual makeup routine, just adding a stronger eyeliner.

I had no idea what Calum had planned which meant I had no idea what to wear for the date but I figured just something a little above casual would be fine so I settled for a blue sun dress I had that hit above the knee with a denim jacket over it.

But then the nerves kicked in.

Reality set in.

I was going on a date with Calum.

This wasn't just dinner with a friend or a night hanging out with him wishing he knew how I felt. This was a date. It was Calum taking me on a date. He knew how I felt.

& that caused for my stomach to turn.

I mean sure we confessed our feelings to each other & we had a cute moment today outside when he distracted me from reading but how would we be on an actual date?

How would we be when it was really just us, our on a date, our feelings now completely open with each other.

What if he realized we weren't actually comptable.

What if he saw that there really wasn't a connection between us past a really strong friendship with a little bit of attraction mixed in there?

I had this gut feeling I liked Calum more than he liked me.

But he also has gone a year waiting for me, a year without kissing someone.

That had to mean a lot, right?

Right before the date, Michael came into the room.

"Well don't you look cute."

"Is this okay? Is it too much?"

"No. You look great, Aves. How are you feeling?"

"The truth? I'm so nervous."

"Awh!" Michael came over to hug me. "Why?"

"I'm going on a date with Calum. Michael, do you understand this? I'm so nervous about it all."

"Why though? He adores you."

"Yea but it's different now. I don't have to hide what I'm feeling, like he knows I like him. I feel so exposed."

"It'll be a night to remember, alright? This is what you've wanted & I want you to enjoy it."

"I know but that's why I'm nervous. What if he realizes he doesn't really like me?"

"Aves, that's impossible. He's been talking about you ever since last year at this beach, alright?"

"Yea, alright."

"He's waiting downstairs for you though so go get him."

I grabbed my purse before I went downstairs where Calum was sitting at the kitchen table.

"Oh, damn. Hi Ava." He smiled as he saw me. I can never describe how it feels to see Calum smile that way because of me. I loved knowing I was the reason behind his smile. Then he stood up to walk over toward me. "This is for you."

& he handed me a single rose. "You said simple, right?"

"Awh, thanks Cal. I love it."

"Good. Well are you ready to go?"
