("Oh my god." Spider-Man says panicked, "What do I do? Karen, uh, give me an x-ray of the boat and target all the strongest points." The mask display highlights spots on the structure.)
"Ok," says Hope, "You are and your webs are both extremely strong so that combined with hitting all of those points should hold it together at least long enough for people to come help get the civilians off safely."
"I think it's been established that he's strong but strong enough to hold a boat together?!" Clint asked panicked.
Peter winced it might have worked like Hope said if only he hadn't missed that spot.
("Web grenade. Web grenade." Shooting webs, he leaps between the two sides of the ship. "Splitter web, go.")
"Well it's a good thing he and Ned hacked the suit or Peter wouldn't have those shooting options." Kate said with a smirk.
"Exactly." Peter says smugly.
Clint and Tony groaned.
(Spider-Man tumbles back and forth on the upper part of the ferry, connecting the ship with strands of web. He dodges flames while he travels down the length of the ferry.)
"Whoa, whoa!" Shouts Rhodey, "You had to dodge flames while pulling the ship together! I didn't hear about that part!"
"I think that was intentional." Pepper said while running a hand down her face. 'Tony isn't the only one getting grey hairs, I have to deal with two heroes. At least Rhodey is responsible or else I'd be worrying about three. Oh who am I kidding.'
(He fires several strands of web at once, and binds them together with another strand. Reaching the bow, he crouches on the edge of the roof. He eyes the two leaning halves of the ferry that are crisscrossed with spider webs.)
No one says a word. The atmosphere is tense as the heroes that didn't know what happened waited to see if it worked. No one dared ask as they didn't want to jinx it.
("Great job, Peter. You are 98 percent successful." Says Karen.)
"Yes!" Kamala shouts then backtracks, "Wait what. 98?"
"That's still enough right?" Steve asks hopefully.
"Not in this case." Natasha says woefully.
("98?" A man one the boast shouts, "Yeah, Spider-Man!" The web strands begin to snap.)
"F••k that is not good!" Bucky says and the heroes look at the screen in terror.
("No, no, no, no!" Water floods the cargo hold, pushing the cars forward. People cling to posts as the stream rushes past them. On the upper level, passengers slide down the floor of the leaning ferry. The gap widens as the web strands continue to snap.")
"F••king h••l!" Sam shouts.
Peter bends over and buries his face in his hands, "I messed up so bad."
"Yeah you did." Matt says and Tony shoots him an angry look even though he knew that the other man couldn't see it, "But you did everything you could to fix it and everyone made it out alive. That's what's important. Everyone makes mistakes, even heroes. And unfortunately hero mistakes can lead to some pretty big things but that's when you get back up and fix it."
Peter picks himself back up, something he's very used to doing, and gives his boyfriend a small smile. "Thanks."
'He's not alone' is something that Peter keeps reminding himself of. He has his amazing boyfriend and made some pretty great friends. They'll always be there for him.
Tony smiles at Peter and Matt. 'Okay,' he reluctantly admits in his head, 'maybe he's not so bad after all.'
(Spider-Man leaps into the air. "No!" He grabs a thread and shoots another. Arms outstretched, he hangs between the two sides trying to hold it together.)
"Are you out of your mind?!" Stephen asks loudly. "You could dislocate both of your shoulders!"
Tony's eyes widened, he hadn't even thought to check Peter for injuries then. He had been so mad all he was focused on was telling him off.
"I was fine." Peter tells Stephen while not noticing his mentor's internal shame, "My arms were sore but definitely not dislocated."
(Suddenly that two sides started to move towards each other.)
"Um I'm glad that this is happening," Jen says, "but what exactly is happening?"
("What the h••l?" Spider-Man says as he lands gently in the seating area and looks around, "What the..." Iron Man rises into view.)
'Oh no.' The three other young heroes think.
("Hi, Spider-Man." Says Iron Man, "Band practice, was it?")"Oh you are dead." America winces.
(Hovering outside, he holds up one half of the boat. Drones arrive and attach themselves to the other half. Thrusters propel the two halves of the ferry forward and join them together. Iron Man looks at Spider-Man through the window, then flies off.)
"Yikes," Scott whispers to Hope, "you can practically feel the parental disappointment."
("Yeah, Iron Man!" The same man from before shouts. Spider-Man swings into the cargo hold, where Iron Man is welding the ferry back together. "Uh, Mr. Stark? Hey, Mr. Stark. Could I do anything? What do you want me to do?")
"I think maybe you should give him a minute to clam down, Queens." Steve says gently knowing that Tony would be very angry.
("I think you've done enough." The older man says.)
Everyone one winced at the statement.
Bruce coughed, interrupting the awkward silence. "Well, um. Good job Tony with fixing the ferry, and Peter if you hadn't held it together Tony would have gotten there too late."
The silence returned.
Jen patted her cousin's arm, "Good try."
(Iron Man flies away. Spider-Man climbs to the top platform of a mast and looks around. Smoke is pouring out from the massive vessel. Rescue boats and helicopters approach from all directions. Schultz is shown walking towards Vulture in the warehouse.)
The heroes glared at the men with anger and disgust. The villains had to have known what could happen with having a weapons deal so close to civilians, yet they did it anyway.
("So that's it, you've just gonna run?" Toomes asked.)
"Uh did he forget about the last person who went against Toomes?" Clint asked with an uneasy look on his face.
"I wish we could forget." Sam shuddered.
"He'll be fine as long as he keeps it a secret." Natasha says.
("Feds were waiting for us. Now we're on Iron Man's radar? Yeah, I'm running. You should too." Schultz says.)
"Smart." Bucky says.
("You know I can't do that.")
"He has a family." Says Kate.
("So what now?" "Mason," Toomes says, "can you get that high-altitude seal thing up and running in time?")
The heroes eyes widen. "They're going for the big one." Carol says.
("Seriously?" Mason asks, "Yes. You will not regret this." Toomes turns back to Schultz, "You in?" Schultz smiles.)
"Dang it." Carol says, hitting her arm rest.
Note: Peter did mess up but Tony definitely didn't handle the situation well. Matt and Tony are going to be at each other's throats in the next chapter.
