As the door clicked shut I had finally found my strength to move, so I did. I stood up, breaking Kyle's hold on me with the excuse I needed to get water. So I walked over to the other side of the room putting distance between me and Kyle as I grabbed a bottle from the mini bar.

Fuck it, I'll pay $5 for a bottle of water just to give me some space.

Normally I'd be happy to see him here, that he decided to come but for some reason, I wasn't happy. I was annoyed.

I took a long sip of water as my head still continued to pound, and my ankle protested that I was standing. Kyle stood opposite me, crossing his arms across his chest.

"You're not happy I'm here."

Well, trust Kyle to know what I was thinking all the time. It was one of the great qualities that made us work well together, he always knew when I said I was fine, I wasn't fine. He also knew how to fix things when it was bad but today he just stood there after that statement.

"I didn't say that. I said, you just popped out of the blue, no warning. I'm...confused."

Kyle took a step forward but then hesitated, taking a step back and placing his hands in the air, his palms facing me.

"I know. I should have texted."

"You should have!"

But it wasn't like I was looking at my phone.

"I wanted to surprise you."

"You did."

"Well look, it worked out. If I didn't come when I did you could have drowned in the pool. No one even noticed you were in it."

Well, Gabriel did. I think.

"I know how to swim," I told Kyle, and to be honest I was trying to float at that point cause my body was in so much pain.

"but thank you," I added, I wasn't ungrateful, "it's just...." well I didn't know so I stopped talking and took another sip.

"Did something...happen?" Kyle asked, he raised his hand scratching his head for a moment, "Am I missing something?"

"Well yes Kyle, you told me you needed space, and then you ghosted me, so I...took space as well and made plans the best way I could so I didn't come to this horrible wedding by myself and...as you can tell it's going great because I ended up in the pool!"

"I know and I said I was sorry."

"And I accept your apology but things aren't just going to...go back to the way they were," I wailed my hands around me, "I'm...I just need space okay. This time it's me that needs the break."

I also kissed my boss and I really liked it.

But I left that part out because I had no idea of anything that happened because it was all starting to be hazy. Forty eight hours ago I wouldn't even have dreamed this story line up but here I was living it.

Thinking of it made my lips tingle. Instinctively I sucked them both in looking like a puffer fish as I let them out again.

"How about we sleep it off and then talk about it in the morning?" Kyle suggested.

Great, sleeping.

Where on earth and how on earth were we all going to fit in this room.

"I'll take the couch," I said, maybe the boys can share the bed together.

Kyle scoffed, "Are you serious Rory, you can sleep in the bed I'm not going to jump you!"

Well that I knew, because it was normally me who initiated any romance times between us, Kyle was the perfect blanked out gentleman.
