Sorry...really mean of me to say faster updates and then disappear for over a month but we've had a lot of family drama (drama not necessarily being bad!) but it's taken up so much time! And I've also gotten a little sick (nothing serious) so I have been going to a a lot of hospital appointments. Anyway forcing myself to write this cause I have 1300 words done already a month ago but I just didn't have the mental energy to try and do the last few hundred for the next chap.
Sorry and ILY.
I avoided looking at Gabriel as I dragged a spare chair from the cocktail area for Kyle to sit on.
If he wanted to act like nothing happened, well that's not my problem. He was the one who kissed me, so he had more to lose. Or at least, that's what I told myself.
Besides it's not like it was our first unsolicited kiss. Just channel the inner anger from last time, I told myself. I'm sure after a few jägerbombs deep I could find it.
"Sit," I told Kyle as I shifted in my seat, making sure there was enough space between me and Gabriel so I wasn't fully leaning on him, but it was hard when the tables were already crammed and now I had added another chair.
If someone looked closely, they would see that one of us didn't belong here, especially with the missing plate in front of them.
But I wasn't going to sit for long, I was going to wait till the entrance was done, and then I was going to disappear to the bar. It would then look like a guest had simply dragged a chair to sit with people they knew. If the staff noticed something, they didn't say anything. I could always pretend I was on another table but want to sit here now. Besides, it wasn't like they were going to lose money cause Kyle can just have my meal.
Kyle, on my right, started speaking. To be frank, he hadn't stopped speaking since he saw me after the ceremony. I tuned him out, the way Gabriel was tuning me out, staring at his phone looking very unbothered, like there was no change in his life in the last 24 hours.
Not like he had kissed me, his subordinate, at my sister's wedding and then pushed me into the water. Okay, maybe not pushed but he had part blame of me almost drowning. I nodded aimlessly at something Kyle said, probably a question since he was tapping my shoulder.
This was going to be a long night.
One thing I was grateful for was that I didn't have to do the silly bridal party entrance, I had opted out of it saying my legs were sore and they didn't need me looking awkward. They came in, dancing to "Get the party started" by P!nk, there was no way I would be busting out moves like they were with confidence.
These entries were always so cringe yet somehow everyone around them were cheering them all on like it was normal. Perhaps I was the abnormal one hating weddings, finding the whole thing and concept cringe. Or perhaps it was because deep down I knew I wasn't someone who would want this, or a piece of paper tying you to someone for life.
As the happy couple were seated, smiling as they were in their own little bubble, this was my opportunity to escape. I got up, slipping out of my chair. The aim was to do it as quietly as possible, so no one would notice me, but it was hard when you were wedged between two men that were unaware of how much space they took up. I had to push the chair back, making a screeching noise against the floorboards, thankfully the music was somewhat loud so the only people that realised were those in my close proximity.
I had to then stagger out of the small space between me and the wall behind me. Even though we were at the front, close enough to the family table, we were on the furthest one from the dance floor (upon my request).
Once I was finally out, I tried to tip toe out against the wall to the door, which was hard when you were in clanky heels, but somehow I managed to slip out of the main room as entrees were being served and made it to the bar.
