you spoke and i answered. here is your epilouge <3*2 weeks later*
Marah woke with a start, another dream waking her up early again. Checking the time, she groans; 3:56am.
karma
She rolls out of bed and falls onto the floor, standing up quickly. Creeping her way down the stairs she is careful to avoid all the creaky steps.
Tiptoeing into the kitchen she finds the light is already on. Making her way to the bar centered in the middle of the kitchen, she sits down next to the night "bat" himself.
"Hey" Bruce grumbles and takes another sip of what looks to be scotch.
"A little birdie told me that drinking kills brain cells" she calls him out with a smile, remembering in her "coma dream" that Jason once said that to her.
Bruce rolls his eyes. "I think I can spare a few" a small smile tugs at the corners of his lips.
The past few weeks have been an event to get used to. After their little visit to Arkham, Bruce decided that he would take Marah in, seeing as she had no where else to go. Her real parents have been presumably dead by the police and she had no other contact with any relatives; if she had any.
"Shouldn't you be out punching things?" Marah joked.
Since Marah already knew the identity of Robin to be Jason, who is living with Bruce, she put the pieces together and figured that Bruce was indeed the Dark Knight himself.
"Ha ha" Bruce faked a laugh and rubbed his hands down his face. "Everybody needs a break once in a while" he mutters and Marah nods her head.
An easy silence fell over them and Marah sighed. "Everything is so messed up" she says quietly, looking down at the table.
"It could be worse" Bruce muses and takes another sip of his scotch.
Marah has been recovering from her 12 year long coma rather quickly, she can already walk on her own! Although she is still more or less the equivalent to a twig, she is gaining weight fast.
Alfred has also been helping with that, preparing dishes full of all the good fats and helping "Ms. Quinn" to full health again.
Even though she very much likes living with Bruce and appreciates all that he has done for her, she still can't shake the feeling that she doesn't belong.
Marah is still trying to tell herself that her dream was just that, a dream. But she is finding it very hard since everything felt so real.
Her longing to be with Joker and Harley again increases with each dream that comes to her in the night. The reason that she is down here, in the kitchen, sitting next to Bruce.
Bruce turns to face her in the stool he is sitting on.
"Look, I know that this... lifestyle, isn't exactly what you're used to. But just know that this is what's best for you right now" he says.
"Okay" she replies. Bruce nods and downs the rest of his drink. He kisses the top of her head.
"Goodnight kid" and he's gone.
Marah stays in the kitchen for a while longer before returning to her room, tossing and turning and never getting to sleep.
*4 Months later*
The scale reads 100 pounds. "Woo wee would you look at that" Jason says and Marah rolls her eyes.
When they first measured Marah at the hospital, she was a mere 15 pounds. Very unhealthy for a 17 year old girl. Even though 100 pounds for 17 is still unhealthy, she is feeling and looking much better.
"You are recovering way to fast are you sure you aren't an alien or have special powers?" he continues while inspecting her body for any alien signs.
She laughs and pushes his body away so she can step off the scale. "Move weirdo" He backs away with his hands up and examines her healthier looking body.
Marah's skin has revived its color, a nice olive complexion. Her hair is more of a vibrant brown, full of volume and soft to the touch. You can no longer see her ribs under her skin, making her look more like a human and less like a skeleton.
She is clad in very short, cotton shorts and one of Jason's old shirts that reach her mid thigh. The shirt covers her shorts so it looks like she has no pants on.
Jason licks his lips and averts his eyes.
she isn't 18 yet, he has to keep reminding himself.
Jason is 3 years older than 17 year old Marah, making him 20. As the days go by, Jason becomes more acquainted to the girl he has been talking to ever since he was 8; even though she was asleep. He finds himself growing to like her more and more.
Unfortunately, it would be illegal for Jason to make any move yet so he keeps quiet and waits for her birthday.
Marah catches Jason staring and a small blush forms on her cheeks. Silence falls over the two and she awkwardly clears her throat. "So, uh, we should go tell Bruce" she says and runs a hand through her hair, a nervous habit she tends to do.
Jason nods and waits for her to exit first, then following shortly after. They find Bruce downstairs in the living room, watching the news intently with a pile of papers scattered across the couch and coffee table.
"Guess who's 100 pounds!" Marah says happily as she walks into the room. Alfred, who is standing nearby, claps at her news. "Well this is exciting!" he says and Jason laughs.
Marah smiles and takes a bow. Bruce hardly looks up from the TV.
"Bruce, what's wrong?" Jason asks and stands next to Bruce. Bruce says nothing but continues to watch the news.
"...and it looks like a few other prisoners have escaped as well. We all presume that the Joker is the master behind all this chaos and we can only hope that..."
The TV reporter babbles on about the escape but all Marah can focus on is how Joker is now out of Arkham and into the real world.
Everybody turns to look at the stunned Marah as she whispers one word,
"Daddy"
