[At Night...]
I head to my window to open it so some fresh night air can come in. I'm happy I can finally rest after attending my oh-so-exciting graduation ceremony. The cheesecake was amazeballs.
I push open the windows and fill my lungs with fresh air. Suddenly, a tennis ball fly pass me and ricochet off the wall, landing on the bed. I turn around and drag my feet to it, picking up the ball. There was a sticky note.
Mission 1: Let's play a game. If you can find all the boxes, you can keep all its contents. Head out for you first box!
From the handwriting, I could tell it belongs to Namjoon. It's the same with the way he always used to write on the black board back in the club room. What are these monkeys up to? I put on a red pullover and slip into some comfy sweatpants before leaving my home. As I walk into the pathway along the street, I notice a yellow box under the yellow light illuminating from a street lamp post. I run to it and pick it up, holding it against my chest. There was another note.
Mission 2: Uwah, you're not as dumb as we thought! (Yoongi hyung wrote that.)
Find the green box now. Follow the trail dot dot dot
My eyes narrow down to the ground and I notice a trail of green dots. I follow it closely. The trail leads me to a bus stop and there's a small green box. This time, a folded paper was taped to lid of the box and I pick it up, unfolding the paper.
Mission 3: We ran out of post sticks because SOMEBODY had to make cranes with it.
Anyways, take the bus and keep a look out for a red flag on one of the bus stops. You can see it from afar so don't worry. We made it really obvious.
I tuck the paper into my pocket and sit down on the bench. The whole time, I couldn't fight back my smile. These boys are ridiculously creative. This better be worth it.
The bus eventually came and I board it, tapping my card on the scanner. I sit down at the side where I can see the bus stops and tuck the two boxes closer to my chest. Few stops pass by and from afar, I see a huge red flag hooked to the grass. I press the buzzer and made my way down.
Behind the flag, there was rectangular red box and I bend down, struggling not to let the junk in my hands topple, before piling the box on top of all the others and putting all of them into my arms. The red box had words written in visible shiny gel white ink.
Lights will guide you home.
I look up and notice colorful led lights hung along the trees. It was an entrance to the park. I walk into the park and follow the nights as it flickers under the moonlight. It's really pretty and I'm asking myself again if it's really the boys who are doing this.
I follow the lights and once the trail ends, I can feel my heart jumping out of my chest. It's the basketball court. And in the middle of it, the boys were standing close to each other wearing the jersey we used during the competition days.
I am trying so hard not to tear up.
I walk up to them and can't help but giggle.
"As expected, our most valuable player knows how play treasure hunting," Jhope says as he claps his hands while faking an emotional face.
"Yoongi hyung was so worried you'll get lost or something-"
"Ya, shut your mouth." Yoongi hisses at Jimin. I'm still out of words.
"Come on, it must be tiring for you to carry that." Jin says as he takes the pile of box from my hand.
"Ya, why are you guys doing such cheesy things. I'm gonna get indigestion." I say while shaking my head.
"We're doing this for you." Tae pouts his lips.
"Wae?"
"Because we want you to stop running." Yoongi blurts out. I feel my lips slowly parting.
"And it's about time you stop." He says before turning around, picking up a ball. So this is what's it's all about, they want me to start playing again.
"Guys you know what the doctor said. I cant-"
"The doctor's a crap." Maknae suddenly blurts out and our eyes widens. Jhope burst into laughter but eventually stop because the atmosphere was too serious.
"Noona, the only person who is stopping you is yourself." Jungkook says. He snatches the ball from Yoongi and passes it to me. I flinch but manage to catch it, gripping the ball around my fingers.
"Your choice,"
I look up and stare straight into the hoop.
Ah, the basketball hoop; used to be the most comfortable thing for me ever. I knew every angle of it like the back of my hands. Funny how it seems so foreign to me right now. Funny how I really hate this feeling.
I walk past the boys with my eyes still fixated on the hoop. Basketball has brought me so many things in life.
It definitely brought me to trouble almost 100 times. I got scolded in school for playing too much. I got scolded by my dad for neglecting my studies.
But it also brought me happiness. I could run away from my problems just by playing. I even met people who changed my life.
I guess the pain was worth it.
Once I stand in the three pointer stand, I turn around to look at the boys once more.
Ah, so these guys are secretly softies in the inside. Everyone single one of them is so special. Jhope always brings us happiness. Jimin is always listening to our rants. Taehyung is the dumb blonde that brings up the mood. Jin's cooking is the bomb. Namjoon has a sexy ass brain and caring heart. Jungkook is so strong physically and mentally.
And Yoongi. Oh Yoongi. He looks so perfect. Those eyes shining like LED lights. He sacrificed so much for me. And I was dumb enough to leave him. He may seem cold and evil when you first meet him but I swear,
He is the kindest guy ever.
I turn my attention back into the hoop and raise my arms. It didn't hurt as much as it did back then. I inhale a deep breath and shoot the ball.
It won't be the last time I'll be doing this because,
I have finally stopped running.
