We celebrate my initiation party with cola and pizza while sharing background stories about ourselves in the club room. I sit with my legs cross on the couch, still wearing the shirt and shorts. I was sandwich between Yoongi and Jungkook.
"We're so glad you're in our team. Having an odd number ain't easy for us. Now you make it even." Jin says as he winks at me. Was that a pick up line? All of them jeer in disgust.
"Noona, you're so cool when you play just now. You're so different from all the other girls!" Taehyung says before shoving a half bitten slice into his mouth.
"Woah easy there. And uhr thanks. " I'm starting to feel slightly overwhelmed with the compliments. In my old school, being the top player was not a big deal there since everyone got used to it... more like got used to me. I guess they've never had a female player in here.
"Its true noona, I've never played basketball with a girl like you..." Jungkook mutters under his breath as he looks down shyly on his laps. Yoongi then clears his throat and puts another slice on my plate.
"You're too skinny. Eat up." He licks his lower lips and turns away. I realize its a habit for him to always lick his lips. I nod and shove another bite in my mouth. Suddenly, my body tense up. My instinct became clearer. Shit! I should be home now! I stand up and immediately grab my bag. The guys shift their eyes towards me.
"Where you going?" Hoseok, the bright one, ask.
"I have to go home. Sorry guys, see you next week. Thanks for the food!" I manage to say (or rap because I was talking extremely fast) before leaving the club. I race to the girls toilet and quickly change into my uniform while shoving the smelly ones in my bag.
I took a taxi home because I didn't want to get lost and late at the same time. Once I enter the house, dad was sitting on the couch with a newspaper in his hands.
I straighten my skirt and open the door as gently as possible, tiptoeing my way into my room.
"Do you even know what time is it?" He slams the newspaper down on the table and walks up to me with his hands on his waist. Step monster, I mean step mom, steps out of the kitchen with a satisfied look on her face. I look down on my feet because I had practically nothing to say.
"And why is your bag so big? Give it to me." He pulls the bag forcibly from my shoulders and opened it. He pulls out the 'Go Team BTS' basketball shirt and pants. He throws it at me and I cringe.
"Basketball again? Eunbi, how many times must I tell you? You are not gonna get anywhere with this! Why are you so stubborn? " He takes out his glasses and rubs his eyes with the back of his hands. "You're just like you're mom. Ignorant."
My hands drops to my side. I can't believe dad was this petty to talk about mom like that.
"What? How can you compare me with mom like that?" My anger has reached its boiling point.
"You know what? You're right. I'm just like mom. Maybe I should be exactly like her. I should leave you too Dad. I shouldn't have agreed staying here!" I shout in frustration. My dad doesn't do anything but watch, obviously stunned. We fought multiple times, but this was my first time feeling so bloody pissed.
Without thinking, I storm my way out of the house and begin running.
Running to wherever my legs will take me.
