Milaine stirred, shifting slightly against the couch as the morning light filtered through the curtains. The first thing she noticed was that she was alone.

Her brows furrowed as she slowly sat up, feeling the unfamiliar weight of a thin blanket draped over her. A pillow had been placed under her head instead of his lap..

Her gaze drifted to the table, where a small note rested beside her phone.

Went to get breakfast. Be back in a few minutes. — L

She exhaled, rubbing her face before swinging her legs off the couch. Her body still ached, muscles stiff from exhaustion, but it wasn't as unbearable as the night before.

Her phone buzzed again. And again. The vibrations were non-stop, the same way they had been since she got here.

Ignoring it, she made her way to the bathroom, splashing cold water on her face to wake herself up. By the time she returned, the buzzing still hadn't stopped.

With a sigh, she picked up the phone, unlocking it.

The screen was flooded with notifications—calls and texts from Lando before he met her at the restaurant,

Messages from her team, from Viv , Willem and Omar. There were also missed calls from her mother and stepfather, along with some calls from Max and and some texts from Kelly.

She stared at the screen for a long moment before locking it again and setting it back down. She wasn't ready to answer any of them. Not yet.

Instead, she turned her focus to her shoulder.

Carefully, she started moving it in slow, controlled motions—ones she knew well from her past injury. It was instinct now, these small rehabilitation movements that helped her regain mobility.

The pain was still there, but it was lesser than before. Last night, even the slightest movement had sent sharp stabs of pain through her. Now, she could move—still restricted, still uncomfortable, but better.

A quiet exhale left her lips, She still can't hit a fucking ball with a racket..

The sound of the front door unlocking pulled Milaine's attention away from her shoulder exercises.

Lando stepped inside, a bag of breakfast in one hand, keys in the other. He looked fresh—his hair was damp, curls slightly messy from drying naturally, and he had clearly changed into new clothes. He must've gone back to his hotel to shower and change before picking up food.

His eyes immediately landed on her and she could see his eyes glimmer «Bongiorno» he greeted in broken Italian

Closing the door behind him and holding up the bag. «Figured you'd be hungry, so I got some healthy delicious breakfast»

Milaine, still sitting on the couch, just watched him for a second. She was really not expecting him to come back at all, she just thought he would go back to his life and everything that had happened the night before would be forgotten..

He was not her ..

A pang of guilt hit her chest as she came to the realization .. He was not like her at all , he wasn't selfish and he wasn't a liar .. Unlike her ... She left and disappeared as soon the sun rises, that day in the London farm two years ago ...

«Stop it, I can hear your mind from here» He said casually «I would never leave like that»

And Milaine was speechless ,It was like he was reading her mind somehow .. Before she could even overthink it more , he walked over, placing the bag on the coffee table before his eyes flickered to her shoulder. «How's it feeling?»
