•••••••

The engine of the McLaren hummed as they cruised through the empty streets. It was just around 9 PM, and Monaco felt like it had pressed pause. The streets were eerily quiet, the city lights twinkling in the distance like stars that had fallen to Earth.

Lando's hands were light on the wheel, but there was an energy in his movements. He would speed up, just a little over the limit, then ease back, as if he was playing with the car, testing its limits.

Every so often, Milaine would catch him glancing over at her with a grin so wide it almost looked manic. And every time she looked at him, she could see that little spark of excitement in his eyes.

«You're like a kid on Christmas morning» she teased softly, turning her head slightly to catch his expression.

Lando chuckled to himself, eyes twinkling with mischief. «Maybe I am» he replied, his voice warm and amused. «Can't blame me, can you? It's not every day I get to drive a McLaren like this..»

«Lando , you drive a McLaren for living» she said

He scoffed and explained « Not this one... And besides I'm driving it with you , so that's even more special»

Milaine rolled her eyes but couldn't suppress a smile. She knew the car meant something to him, something more than just a set of wheels. This was a legacy of Johan .. and he was driving it like he was born to.

They sped through the empty roads, Lando testing the car's power, the sound of the engine echoing through the still night. Milaine was not bothered by the speed. She'd grown up with this. Her father, always pushing limits, always in love with speed. The rush didn't scare her..

And then, after what felt like hours of Lando enjoying the car's setup... He slowed down as they approached a small, hidden garden at the top of one of Monaco's many hills. The city was below them, it was quiet, serene. The perfect escape.

Lando parked the car and killed the engine, the silence settling around them.

Neither of them spoke for a moment, they both got out, Milaine taking a moment to stretch her legs, and they walked to the edge of the garden, sitting side by side on the stone bench that overlooked the city.

The city below felt far away, its noise and chaos lost to the night air. For a brief second, it was just them..

Lando leaned back on the bench, looking at the city lights with a soft sigh. «It's beautiful, isn't it?»

Milaine nodded, her gaze fixed on the lights below. «Yeah. It feels... peaceful up here.»

She turned to him, his eyes were already on her figure , so their eyes met with a depth that felt almost too heavy for the moment. «Thanks for this» she said quietly, her voice barely above a whisper. «For just... taking me away from everything.»

Lando's expression softened, and he just shook his head with a sarcastic chuckle «You don't have to thank me.»

«No Lando, I do» She said with a serious voice..

He didn't respond, he just held her gaze for a few more seconds then he looked away .. He couldn't look at her anymore, The turbulence of feelings he gets when he's around her was getting heavier, too uncontrollable, too unpredictable.. He doesn't want to be held accountable for what he does if he kept looking at her .. So he looked away..

She took a deep breath and looked at the view in front of them as well .. , Keeping quiet for a moment before she spoke again. «You know, I used to come up here with my dad when I was younger. We'd drive around, just like this. I think he loved this view more than anything. And he used to say that it was the one place where he could hear himself think.»
