Scarecrow in his core group of four with Dorothy + Toto, Nick and Lion, felt normal in it. Well normal then you can in a group of equally weird people from you. But Scarecrow still felt a little more of an odd ball. Dorothy, Toto, and Lion all needed to sleep, eat, and drink while him and Nick couldn't since they didn't need it. Nick was once a meat person, he used to need to do all of the stuff.
The Scarecrow is the only one that never got to experience what it's like to be a meat person. He wanted to know if there was someone who was just like him, maybe with a similar past or something. Scarecrow wondered about that well into his king hood. Till one day, a pumpkin headed man came and came with more wonderful friendships.

When Jack was first brought to life, he noticed that he was different from the first two people he knew, Mombi and Ozma(Tip at the time). They are meat people while he wasn't a meat person. He liked being different. It made him, well, him, but it got lonely very quickly.
After a while after he and Tip were heading to the Emerald city for the first time, Tip told Jack about the at the time king, the Scarecrow. Jack grew happy to hear about the Scarecrow. Someone that's just like him.
