Valerie. ✖️
Putting my phone away, I turned around to see who was behind me. "Tim?" Raising an eyebrow, I couldn't help but feel confused.
What would he honestly know? I didn't even talk to him when he came over with Jason yesterday.
"What are you hiding from him?" He sat down in front of me with an angry look on his face. "He was already hurt by Barbara, I'm not going to let you hurt him too."
"I don't plan on hurting him." Although I couldn't talk about my past with Dick yet, that doesn't mean I don't intend on hurting him. That was never my goal.
"Then why won't you tell him?"
I couldn't help but get angry at how much he was treating this like an interrogation. I understand where he's coming from, but he should at least respect my privacy.
"I will, I planned on telling him this week anyways." I tried standing my ground. "And don't treat me like I'm out to get him."
"No." He stood up and looked me down. "You're telling him tonight. You're not postponing it, you're telling him tonight or I'll find out and tell him myself."
Well if he wanted to be such a dick, then both of us could play at this game.
"Listen." I stood up to, not letting him look me down and try to scare me. "No matter how hard you try to look, you'll never find anything on me. It's either he finds out from me or he doesn't find out at all."
I crossed my arms over my chest as he glared at me.
"What could possibly be so bad that you don't want to talk about it with your boyfriend?" I watched as he tried to think of an answer. "Are you an assassin?" He whispered.
I almost laughed at how dumb that was, I was far from an assassin. "Not even close." I shook my head at the idea. "I'm not a bad person, Tim." I finally sighed.
I didn't want to argue with him. He was practically like Dick's brother. I didn't want to make a bad impression.
Taking my seat back, I decided to try to explain as best as I could without telling him. I mean, how was I supposed to tell him something I didn't even understand?
"I made bad decisions." When he heard me start to explain, he took a seat next to me. "But I did it to protect the people I loved. You have to at least understand what that's like."
When I looked over at him, he nodded in response.
"Physically, it hurt me a lot. Mentally, a bit. I mean I still get reoccurring flashbacks, but it hasn't happened while I've been with Dick except once."
Before I could finish, he interrupted me. "You don't have to tell me, Valerie. I can tell you're not comfortable doing so." I nodded, he was right. I wasn't comfortable telling him. "Just at least tell him tonight."
Just as if on cue, Dick came out. "Hey Tim!" Tim waved and looked over at me.
"I will." I whispered to him and walked over to Dick. "How'd it go, babe?" He wrapped his arm around my waist as we started walking out of the big mansion.
"Tiring. Damian's really stubborn."
I laughed and kissed his cheek, "He'll come around."
"What were you talking about with Tim, by the way?" He asked while he looked around his pockets for the car keys.
I wasn't ready to tell him tonight but I couldn't go against my word.
"I'll tell you at home."
