"Valerie." I pleaded as I tried my best to shield myself from her hits. I didn't want to hit her or fight her, especially not electrocute her but she wouldn't stop.

I could feel Bruce watching me, waiting for me to take her out so we could take her to the Asylum, probably. I couldn't do that, I love her and I want to save her.

"Valerie, I know this isn't you." I tried, as she came towards me with a heavy kick. God, she was right. She was a good fighter.

I jumped over her and put down my electricity filled batons. As a sign that I didn't want to hurt her, but when I saw her charge towards me, I grabbed them again.

"Stop!" I yelled, I had no idea what else to do to get her to come back. Finally, I was able to hold on to her and make her stop for a few seconds. "This isn't you, Valerie!"

My hands reached for the mask, but she quickly pushed me away before I could rip it off. She kicked me to push me away from her and went back into fighting mode again as the Joker laughed over the intercom.

Valerie stood still and it appeared as if she was shaking for a second, she nodded at someone and quickly charged towards me again. It seemed angrier this time.

When I looked over to Bruce as a sort of plea for help, I watched as he was finally able to get out of his ties and silently knocked out the goons that were watching him.

Nodding at him, he started to go look for the Joker in the big empty building, careful not to draw attention. I'm assuming the Joker was too fixated on me and Valerie that he didn't even notice.

"Kill him or I'll do what I told you I would right now." Joker yelled as Valerie charged towards me and hit me hard on the jaw. Fuck, that hurt.

"Don't let him get to you, Val." I told her as I tried to grab onto her again, this time I made sure she didn't grab onto my hold.

"What are you doing here?! Do I have to kill those goons too?!" We both looked up as we saw Batman come out with Joker. He was trashing around until they finally came to ground level.

I couldn't help but glare at him, even though I knew he couldn't see even see it. He smirked in my direction and took something out of his pocket. "Oops."

Bruce and I both exchanged glances as we hard a countdown from 10 begin in the warehouse. "Go!" He yelled in my direction as he escaped with the Joker.

I held onto Valerie as hard I could and jumped out through a window. While we escaped, I saw her get something that looked like an earring and throw it in the building.

"What was that?" I asked once we were a safe distance away. Before she could answer, the loud explosion caused us both to jump.

"An ear piece." She said, but it almost sounded like a whisper through the mask she wore. It sounded so weird to hear her voice after so long.
We were in what appeared to be a park, and she was seated on a bench with her head low. Her hair was a mess and she still had on the mask. "Valerie?"

She didn't respond and I was starting to grow even more concerned than I already was. I called out her name again and got on one knee to be in eye level.

My hands made their way towards her mask and this time she didn't push me away. I slipped it off and almost gasped a bit at finally seeing her face.

There was a big scar on her cheek and a bruise over her eye, it was a black eye. I could only imagine how many other bruises and scars she had on her body.

Another thing was that she was crying, causing her makeup to be black streaks on her face.

"Valerie.." I whispered as I softly wrapped my arms around her. She flinched at first which only saddened me more. I felt her crying even harder and her body was shaking a bit.

"My mom was in there. That's what he told me when I was stopped hitting you at first, that's why I was shaking." She told me in between sobs. "He said he'd tell me where in the warehouse she was if I brought you to him."

"When did he tell-"

"Ear piece." Was all she said before she started silently crying again. I held her tightly as she cried onto my shoulder.

"I'm so sorry, Valerie." I told her as I continued to hold her. Hearing her soft sobs was heartbreaking. "I'm so sorry."
