As I got to the end of the street I crossed the road and made my way through the park. I walked to the playground equipment and placed myself on the seat. I slowly rocked back and forth, trying to calm my nerves after what had just happened. I closed my eyes and took three deep breaths, when I opened them I found myself staring at a figure on the other side of the oval. The feminine body stood and stared in my direction; looking around me I found that there was no one in the park besides us two. The person who was on the other side of the slowly began to rotate and make their way out of the park; the moment that the figure had disappeared out of sight, I stood from the swing and made my way over to where they were previously standing.
Walking forward, I caught glimpse of silver between the strands of the untamed grass, it was located right next to where the person was standing. I bent and carefully retrieved the item from the floor; a quiet gasp leaving my mouth as I came to the realisation of what the object was. In my hand I held a bracelet that held multiple small charms. The charm bracelet had belong to me before I had moved to New York with my father. Each charm symbolised a certain event that had happened. My finger traced over a small golden Eiffel Tower, which my mother had bought me after we spent a whole afternoon planning a trip to Paris which we swore to each other would one day happen. The last time I had seen the bracelet was when I was throwing it at my mother; yelling at her to never speak to me again.

I had held the bracelet with a tight grasp the whole way back to my house, ensuring that I didn't lose it. I know sat on the floor of my bedroom the next morning, fidgeting every few seconds and not taking my sight from the bracelet. Sasha having the possession of the bracelet could mean one of two things; she either broke into my house or retrieved it, or her father and my mother had officially become an item. I cringed at the thought of Sasha having full access to all of my belongings which I had left behind. My father and I had left in such a hurry that there were many things which I never got the chance to bring with me to New York. I had left my childhood in Brooklyn, well what was left of it after I realised that everything my mother had ever said or done for me was just a lie to cover the fact she was having an affair. My gaze finally left the bracelet when I heard my door carefully open.
"Ms D'Liest, sorry to bother you but you have visitors downstairs."
I gave her a faint smile and nod before turning back to the bracelet, walking to my wardrobe and placing it carefully in the safe which I kept hidden in the vent. The safe contained all of the sentimental things which I had managed to grab from our house in Brooklyn; the small glass sculpture shaped like a horse which my father bought me after visiting a stable when I was 10, the blanket which I had claimed mine as a child. Although none of it was useful, I did not like the thought of ever leaving them behind. A journal, filled with all of my password and bank account numbers, and a diamond ring which I had never brought myself to wear as it was once my great grandmothers sat in the corner of the safe. I put it back into its place and made sure that the cover of the vent was secured before going downstairs.
As I walked down the stairs I saw the familiar faces of Katrina, Zac, James and Casey.
"Were going to the carnival which just opened up and you're coming with us." Casey announced.
"Just not dressed like that," Zac added. I looked down at my attire, realising I was yet to change out of my pyjamas.
"Give me five minutes." I stated as I turned and ran up the stairs to get dressed.
