It was two am.

You were bored, couldn't sleep, so you did what you always do when you found yourself in this predicament - you texted Colby.

You were friends with benefits with him, so it wasn't anything out of the ordinary to send or receive a you up text this late.

What was out of the ordinary, was that he never answered you. He left you on read, and that wasn't like him. Usually he'd respond right away, telling you he was on his way or to give him a few minutes.

You furrowed your brows at your screen, letting out a sigh as you set your phone down. He wasn't coming, so you ended up taking matters into your own hands.

Fast forward, a month later, you still haven't heard from Colby much. Once in a while, he would answer you, but his texts would be very vague, all containing a not tonight, or I can't, have to be up early kind of message.

Finally, after feeling like you were a nuisance to him, you cracked down and asked him what's going on.

Okay. Look, Colby. You've been avoiding me for weeks now, if you don't want to continue seeing me, just tell me that. There is no need for you to just flat out ignore me or give me some lame ass excuse. I'm a grown woman, I can handle myself. You don't have to spare my feelings, if that's even what you're trying to do.

You chewed on your thumb as you awaited an answer, were you nervous about what was going to happen? Sure. You and Colby have been friends for what feels like forever.

You've only grown closer by taking your friendship up a notch. You didn't want to lose Colby, he was your best friend, really the only person you have ever trusted with everything.

You swiped out as soon as you seen he read your message, and you felt like you could puke. You had a hunch about why he was acting weird, but with you having feelings for Colby, you didn't want to believe it until he said anything.

Now that he was, well hopefully, going to say something, you felt like your heart was about to be ripped from your chest.

A part of you was mad that he was ignoring you.

A part of you was sad that he grew distant.

A part of you, a big, part of you, didn't want to let him go and you wanted nothing more than for him to finally like you back.
