Flashback: The Day Before the Final Exam

Jungkook's POV 

The morning was still, and the campus was unusually quiet. Most students were tucked away in their dorms, buried under notes and caffeine. This was normal during exam seasons. I had come early, wanting a head start, but fate had other plans.

"Hey, Jimin!" I called out as I spotted him near the vending machines buying coffee.

He looked up, surprised. "You look happy," he remarked, brows lifted, as if confused.

And I was Happy. Until that moment, I was happy. Completely, perfectly, and incandescently happy.

I grinned. "I just wanted to thank you, Jimin."

Jimin's smile faltered. "Thank me? For what?"

"For the bet," I said easily, hands in my pockets. "If you hadn't made it, I wouldn't have realised what it's like to fall for someone."

His expression changed instantly. Eyes narrowing. Jaw clenching.

"What do you mean?" he asked slowly. "You fell for Jisoo? I don't remember—"

"No, man," I interrupted with a laugh. "What are you talking about? The bet was about Haejin, right? So why would I fall for—"

"What did you just say?" His face turned to stone.

I blinked. "The bet. You dared me to make Haejin fall for me, remember."

Silence.

Then his voice, low and deadly, sliced through the air.

"Jungkook... the bet was about Jisoo. Not Haejin."

The words didn't register at first. They felt foreign, like he spoke in a language I didn't understand.

FLASHBACK OF THE 'BET' DAY 

Jimin leaned in slightly, lowering his voice. "I'll give you the sports car, but only if you can make a girl fall for you before graduation."

Jungkook raised an eyebrow, smirking. "A girl, huh? Seems easy enough. Who?"

Jimin turned his head towards Haejin and Jisoo's table.

Jimin smirked. "Bet you can't make her fall for you before graduation."

Jungkook leaned back with a grin. "That girl? Please. Consider it done."

Jimin chuckled, his gaze unwavering. "We'll see. Bet?"

Jungkook grinned. "Bet."

The bell rang. They exchanged looks before heading back to class.

FLASHBACK ENDS

I let out a shaky laugh. "Come on, don't mess with me right now. I don't even care about the damn car anymore. I just... I just want to be with her. I'm going to ask her out after graduation."

Jimin's face twisted, a flash of something raw and painful crossing his features.

"Don't you dare," he said, voice shaking with barely restrained emotion.

I froze. "Why not?" I asked, my temper rising. "Why does it matter to you, Jimin?"

His next words shattered everything I thought I knew.

"Because I love her."

The world tilted.

"I love Haejin," he said again, slower this time. "So much it makes me sick. And I thought you were just her friend. I thought you'd moved on from the bet. I trusted you."

My heart plummeted. "Jimin... I didn't know—"

"Don't," he cut me off, eyes burning. "Don't give me that. If you care about her, you won't say a word. You'll let her be. You'll walk away."

"I never saw her as a bet," I whispered. "Not even for a second. I fell for her, Jimin. Harder than I've ever fallen before."

"And if you tell her," he said coldly, "I will tell her the truth. That you started talking to her because of a dare. To you, she was just another game."

His words struck like a whip, the guilt already clawing at my insides, turning to full-blown horror.

"Please," I murmured. "Don't do that. She'll never forgive me."

"Then do the right thing," he said quietly. "Stay away."

And with that, he turned and walked away, leaving me standing there like the villain in my own story.

Present Day

I haven't spoken to anyone in a week.

I thought I was untouchable. Those feelings were a distraction. Those girls came and went, and nothing lasted. But Haejin... she changed everything. She made me feel. And now, the silence she left behind is the loudest thing in my life.

I've never hated myself more.

And all I can do now is wait.

Wait for graduation.

Wait for a miracle.

Wait, even if I don't deserve one.
