Girl Meets School Life

Chapter 3

Riley's POV

I walked into my classroom and sat down next to the girl, Maya. She and I were the only other ones in the classroom. Even the teacher wasn't there yet.

"So you didn't want to be late today?" I asked as I sat down and laid my notebooks down on my desk. She looked up from what she was doing and closed her book quickly. I decided not to ask about it because I do the same thing with my notebook.

"Not really. It would look bad. Even though all my other teachers were used to it." She answered as she smiled at me.

"My name's Riley. Nice to meet you. I haven't seen you before. Are you new here?" I asked her.

"Yes. I used to live in Michigan. My name is Maya." She answered.

"Well welcome to New York." I said.

"You're the first person to actually tell me that. Thanks." She said to me. 

"Your welcome." I answered laughing. "You're cool and nice we should be friends."

"I'm cool with that." She said as she kicked her feet up one my desk. We both erupted in laughter as she took her feet off and the teacher came in and the rest of the kids walked in.

I can't believe I have another friend!!! She seems really cool and I can't wait to hang out with her. I turned my attention up front as the teacher started to talk.

Maya's POV 

I had gotten up early and came to school early so I was for sure not late. I rode the subway to school and got her a lot faster. I walked into the classroom and saw I was the first one there. I sat down and pulled out my drawing journal. I loved to draw in my free time. I started to draw a beautiful sunset. After a while I heard a shuffling noise and then someones voice came from next to m. I jumped up and closed my book.

"So you didn't want to be late today." The voice asked. I looked over and saw the brown haired girl sitting in her desk next to me. I was surprised she had talked to me but I didn't show it.

"Not really. It would look bad. Even though all my other teachers were used to it." I answered with a smile as I remembered my old town. It had been a small town and we had to leave for a reason.

"My name's Riley. Nice to meet you. I haven't seen you before. Are you new here?" She asked with a huge smile on her face.

 "Yes. I used to live in Michigan. My name is Maya." I answered her question.

"Well welcome to New York." She said as she gestured around the room. 

"You're the first person to actually tell me that. Thanks." I said as surprise filled me that someone was actually being nice to me.

"Your welcome." She answered laughing. "You're cool and nice we should be friends."  

Surprise ran through me again. I put my feet up on her desk as I tried to be overly cool on purpose. "I'm cool with that."

We both started laughing really hard as I turned around at the same time she did. The teacher walked in with the last few kids. Mostly the populars. As she started to talk I opened my notebook and began drawing again. School came naturally so I didn't need to pay attention.

Riley's POV

Me and Maya had all our classes before Lunch together but after Lunch we had different classes and I had all my classes with Rosie. The bell rang for Lunch and the whole class ran put of the room.

"Meet me in the Cafeteria and we can eat together." I told Maya.

"Okay." She said as she walked to her locker which was on the other side of the school from mine. I went to my locker. I put my things away and grabbed my money for lunch. As I closed my locker I saw Rosie in her locker next to mine.

"Hey!" I said.

"Hey!!" She said as she closed her locker. 

"Want to eat with me at lunch today?" I asked her.

"Sure!" She said. 

I kept talking as we walked to the Cafeteria. "So I also invited a girl named Maya to sit with us. I hope you don't mind." I said, hoping she wouldn't get mad

"Of course I don't!" She said.

"Cool." I said as we walked into the lunchroom. After we got our food we sat down at a table. I saw Maya walk in and after she got her food I motioned for her to come sit with us.

"Maya, this is Rosie. Rosie, Maya." I introduced them to each other.

"Nice to meet you." Rosie said.

"You to." Maya said as she sat down. 

We talked the whole lunch time and it ended up we all got along really well. We made arrangements to hang out at my house after school. Finally the bell rang and we got up and Maya went the other way as Rosie and I went to class together.
