A New Beginning in Korea
Yeah!yeah! Time flew so fast right?😁
Yeah it did.The evening was quiet, a gentle breeze drifting through the open window of Sophia’s dorm room.
She sat at her reading table, flipping through her veterinary textbook, her fingers tracing the diagrams of animal anatomy. It had been a long day, filled with lectures, study sessions, and the usual hustle of university life. As a freshman, everything still felt new—exciting yet slightly overwhelming. But she was determined to succeed.
Outside, the sky was painted in hues of deep blue and purple, signaling the approaching night.
"Annyeonghaseyo! (Hello!)"
Sophia looked up to see one of her roommates, Jisoo, leaning against the doorframe with a playful smile.
"We’re going out for dinner. Do you want to join us?" Jisoo asked, her bright eyes filled with excitement.
Sophia stretched her arms and let out a small sigh. "Aniyo, (No) I’m still full from earlier. You guys go ahead, I’ll take care of the room."
Jisoo pouted. "Yah, you always stay behind! You’re such a nerd."
Another roommate, Minji, giggled as she slung her bag over her shoulder. "Sophia-ya, don’t study too hard. You might scare the professors with your intelligence."
Sophia rolled her eyes playfully. "Yah, just go already."
"Arraseo, arraseo! (Okay, okay!) We’ll be back soon," Jisoo said before grabbing Minji’s arm and dragging her out.
The dorm room fell into silence once the door clicked shut.
Sophia sighed, leaning back in her chair.
Finally, some peace and quiet.
She closed her eyes for a moment, feeling the energy within her pulse lightly. It had been weeks since she last used her powers. Ever since Mr. Lee had trained her, she had learned how to control them—but she never used them unless necessary.
"Never attract attention." His words echoed in her mind.
But sometimes, it was tempting.
Curious, she lifted a hand, watching as a small orb of golden energy flickered to life in her palm. It swirled and danced like a firefly, casting a faint glow on the walls.
Sophia smiled.
Just a little practice won’t hurt.
Suddenly—
The door burst open.
Sophia gasped, quickly extinguishing the light with a flick of her wrist.
Jisoo peeked inside. "Oh, and don’t forget to—wait… what were you doing?"
Sophia’s heart nearly leaped out of her chest. "Huh? Nothing! Just… stretching."
Jisoo narrowed her eyes suspiciously. "Mmm… okay. Anyway, don’t forget to lock the door."
With that, she disappeared again.
Sophia exhaled heavily. That was close.
She shook her head and decided to take a break from studying. Maybe a hot shower would help clear her mind.
As she stood up, her phone buzzed.
Lucius: Little Lamb, are you still awake?
A smile crept onto her lips.
Sophia: Of course. What is it, Mr. Squillionaire?
Lucius: Tsk. Don’t call me that.
Sophia: Then stop calling me Little Lamb.
Lucius: Never.
Her heart did a little flip.
Before she could respond, another message popped up.
Lucius: Are you alone?
Her brows furrowed. Why was he asking that?
Sophia: Yes, why?
A pause.
Then—
Lucius: Go lock the door. Now.
A chill ran down her spine.
She didn’t hesitate. Rushing to the door, she twisted the lock shut.
Her phone buzzed again.
Lucius: Good. Now listen to me carefully.
Her heartbeat quickened.
Lucius: There’s something I need to tell you… and you might not like it.
