Chloe was laying in her bed, reading a book her best friend (and maybe crush?) recommended to her. It was a peaceful night. Kind of. It all seemed too quiet to Chloe.

Normally her life was loud, chaotic. But now... it's just so quiet.

Her reading was interrupted by the ringing of her phone. She knew that ring tone. She smiled to herself as she answered her best friend.

"Mare-bear! I thought you'd be-" She was cut off by Marinette's broken voice. A sound that would soon haunt Chloe for the next few months.

"Chloe... I can't."

Chloe's heart dropped. 'Cant what? What does Mari mean?' Her gut was screaming at her, telling her something was gonna happen. But she just couldn't pinpoint what exactly.

"Mari? You can't what?" Chloe's voice held so much concern.

All she got in response was a painful sob.

Her heart clenched. The girl she grew to love was on the other side of the phone in pain, and Chloe didn't know how to help.

"Marinette, talk to me babe, please." She was so worried that she didn't even realize her minor slip up.

"I can't stand it, Chlo! Not anymore. I'm so sorry." Marinette's voice was softer than usual.

Anxiety ran through Chloe's body. She didn't want to think about what Marinette meant. But if she didn't, then who would save her?

"You're okay, bug. I promise what ever-"

"I love you, Chloe, so much." Marinette's broken voice whispered into the phone.

Chloe's blood ran cold. "What?"

"I'm so so sorry." Marinette was back to sobbing.

"Marinette, you're scaring me. What are you doing? Why are you-"

"Good bye, Chloe." Marinette said through her sobs before hanging up quickly.

Chloe was in shock. She was numb.

'No, no, no, no, no, no, no.'

"Oh my god!" Chloe let out a choked sob as she ran to put on shoes. Fuck looking even remotely decent. The love of her fucking life is in danger.

Chloe rushed outside the hotel as she dialed Marinette's parents. When they picked up, all Chloe managed to get out through her sobs was 'It's Mari! She's about-' before she heard both Tom and Sabine start panicking as they made their way to Marinette.
