Chapter 11

It felt like a long time since they had eaten real food. The demigods wolfed down the food that the Phoenix had kindly provided but Grover couldn't eat anything. Still, he forced himself to finish some potatoes. He knew that the Phoenix knew something but he had decided to wait till they said something. He was pretty sure he didn't want to anger the Phoenix.

"Grover, you okay? You haven't really touched your food." Piper asked.

Well, the potatoes were the least portion of the food he has on his plate.

Grover looked up and smiled weakly, "All those time out in the wilderness did nothing but crushed my appetite."
Piper looked worried but said nothing and snuggled into her boyfriend as he whispered soothing words into her ear, trying his best to ease her worries for their friend.

The former head of the Phoenix narrowed her eyes on Grover and stood up. Before leaving the area, she said to her fellow friends, "I'm going to scout the area with Alpha, build a border around camp. We can't afford to lose anyone."

The members of the Phoenix all nodded and the leaders leaped onto the trees gracefully. Once they were no longer in sight, Night, Skylar, and Stardust sprang into action.

The demigods were confused. Clarisse asked, "Don't you guys always build a border around camp? Why does Destiny have to tell?"

Ark answered, "Well, we don't usually build borders. We're trained to be on guard every second. Even in our sleep. That's why we don't need borders."

"Won't you get tired? I mean, sleep is important. How do you get enough of that if you have to be on guard every second?" Piper questioned.

Cheetah shrugged, "That's how we camp."

The demigods looked at them in awe.
They could never survive a day without enough sleep.

The siblings of Poseidon had a wonderful time training their powers with a bunch of unlucky monsters. Alpha was getting more and more in control of his powerogether, the champions of Hestia were deadly and unstoppable. With all the blessings they had, they could be as powerful as a god, which meant destruction if they were pissed.

"Perseus, are you planning to tell them?" the sister asked.

He shook his head, "I don't know. I'm afraid they would betray me."

"But they came down from Olympus just to find you."

"What if it was a plan? A plan to ruin me? To kill me?"

"Sometimes, the only way is to blindly trust someone. You have to take the risk."

"That's what I did in the past. Now look where it got me."

"Perseus-"
"Ash, can you do me a favor?"

"Say it."

"Read their minds. See if their intentions are pure."

"Perseus, I cannot read minds. All I can see is their destiny not read their minds. I'm sorry."

Alpha sighed and hung his head. He leaned against a tree and slowly sank down to the floor. He covered his face, mumbling, "I'm sorry sis, I can't do it anymore. I can't handle betrayal again."

Destiny sighed, "Look, I can try to look into their destinies but I can't guarantee that I will be able to see anything. I guess it would do us good to see what their motives are before fully trusting them."

Alpha nodded and they both made their way back to the campsite where everyone was waiting for new instructions. Before they were within earshot, Destiny stopped Alpha, "Hey, I'm sorry for taking charge before leaving campsite jus now. I guess I forgot that I'm not the leader anymore."

Alpha smiled a little, "It takes time to get used to it. It's fine, Des. You're still second in command so it's fine if you took charge once in a while."

Destiny smiled in relieved and they both entered camp.

Everybody stood up when they saw the siblings walk in.

Both of them nodded and they all went on doing their stuff.

Destiny eyed the demigods and said, "Demigods, I need you guys to do me a favor. Sit in a circle around the fire please."

The demigods shrugged and did as she asked. Destiny took a deep breath and sat in front of Thalia. She looked straight into the eyes of the daughter of Zeus. Then she closed her eyes.
After a while, she opened her eyes and sighed. She moved to her right and repeated her actions to Clarisse. She did the same thing to every demigod. Each time she would end with a different reaction. Sometimes she would sigh and other times she would either cringed her eyebrows together in a frown or gasped in slight horror.

When she was done she said to her brother, "Apparently, Apollo was in my favor." She was slightly shaking by then.

He leaped to his feet as the rest of the group gathered round, "What did you see?"

Destiny let out a shudder and shook her head, "I...I...I can't."

Lucian grabbed hold of her hand and ordered gently, "Breathe."

Destiny all but slumped against him, "I can't...I'm sorry...I can't do it again." And with that, she fainted with cold sweat against her forehead.

"What happened to her?" Katie asked.
Alpha sighed in realization, "She saw something."

Ark nodded as he checked the condition of the daughter of Poseidon, "And I fear we would not like it when the time comes."

A/N:
Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeee forgive me. I know it's been a long time since I've updated but I sort of have reasons for that.
First, I'm having two major exams this year and my teachers aren't going us any rest.
Second, I hate writers block but I tend to always get 'em as soon as I finish a chapter.
I know I'm not the best writer but please bear with me here.
Oh,and I would really love to hear your opinions on my story so pleaee comment or vote. Or both.
Thanks guys.
