Chapter 3

He ran as fast as he could. His heart was beating so hard. His breath became heavy as he slowed down and collapsed under a tree. He couldn't believe what his was hearing. He couldn't believe that they would betray him. Especially Annabeth who was his girlfriend. He trusted her with his life. He would never cheat on her. He had loved her.

Loved.

Yup, as in past tense. After hearing what Thalia had said, he didn't think he could love her anymore unless she said that it was wrong and that he had never cheated on her.

His chest ached and his legs were sore. His fingers then dug into his jeans pocket and pulled a ring box. Percy opened it slowly.

Inside the box was a simple yet beautiful ring, resting on the silk that Athena had taught Percy to spin. The ring itself too was made by Percy under the guidance of Hephaestus.

The ring was made out of pure silver. There were silver and blue gemstones embedded onto it, representing the two people who were suppose to wear it on their finger. At the inward of the band 'Wise Girl and Seaweed Brain forever together.' was carved.

Percy's heart ached at the sight of it. He wanted so badly to throw it away but he couldn't bring himself to do it. In his gut, there was a feeling that it wasn't the time yet.

As he slipped the ring back into his pocket, he heard ruffled sounds behind him. Holding riptide in sword form, he inched towards the sound and found an army of monsters led by a titan standing right there. They seemed to be waiting for someone.

The titan, Hyperion, titan of light, saw Percy and beckoned him forward.

"What do you want? Aren't you supposed to be rotting in Tartarus?" Percy spat.

Hyperion winced at his tone of voice but just said, "I'm here to offer you a chance to have revenge on those who treated you badly, those who had betrayed you. Join us."

"I would rather die," Percy scoffed and charged.

Hyperion flashed to the back of his army and laughed, "You may be powerful but you will not be able to defeat a whole army and still win a fight with me."

Percy grinned, "Let's see, shall we?" With that Percy brought Riptide down the skull of a dracaena. He hacked, slashed, spun, dodge, stab and killed monsters in a very fast speed.

While he was fighting, Percy concentrated on the wind around him. He imagined connecting with them and the electricity in the air, connecting both of them with each other and willed them to surround him and the monsters, excluding Hyperion. Vicious winds started to pick up, swirling in a powerful monsoon. The hurricane then started to crush and spin monsters around. More and more of Hyperion's army fell. Some started to run away but was thrown back into the battle by Hyperion himself. He wanted Percy to use up as many strength to finish up the army before facing him.

Soon, Percy stood in front of Hyperion, glaring at him for even suggesting him to betray his friends. He raised Riptide into an offensive stance and charged at Hyperion after letting out a battle cry.

Hyperion drew his own sword to deflect Percy's blow and started to fight back.

As they fought, Hyperion couldn't help it but admire Percy's sword fighting skills. It was true. Percy really was the best sword fighter. The way he mixed both Greek and Roman style in his fight amazed him.

It also caused his death. Percy dodged another one of Hyperion's strike and when he was distracted, Percy slammed his blade into his gut.

Hyperion let out a cry and shoved Percy as hard as he could. He raised his spear and stabbed straight into Percy's chest, yelling, "I mat not kill you but I'm sure your friends will do it for me." With that he fell.

Percy looked at the spear in his chest and groaned. He knew not to pull the spear out if he wanted to live. The fact that Annabeth had drilled into his head. So he just broke half of it off and made his way back to his cabin.

Once there, he knelt by the fountain his dad gave him and willed the water to heal him. The water did heal him but it left a scar there. Percy sighed and collapsed onto his bed, exhausted of not the fight but of the heart break and drama that was yet to come.

Piper and Katie wrapped their arms around Percy as tears rolled down his cheeks.

Thalia, Clarisse, Jason, Nico, the Stolls and Leo crouched down beside the bodies of Sally Jackson and Paul Blofis.

"Percy, I'm so sorry." Katie said softly to the son of Poseidon but he didn't response. He just pushed both girls away and collapsed at a corner, crying softly.

Everyone was stunned.

Nobody had seen their friend like that. No one has seen him cried openly. He had always been the one who comforted his friends and not the one crying. Even when they were burning shrouds of the fallen demigods, Percy had stood strong for his friends. He had lent his shoulder to other to cry on but he never once cried in front of them. He only cried in his cabin by the fountain. Even if he had tears in public, he would pull himself together the next second to keep his friends moving.

When he broke down, they could see that he wasn't only crying for his dead family. He was also crying for his fallen friends. The death of his family had triggered the memories of his friends dying in war.

Nico stood to his feet, wanting to go over to comfort Percy but something caught his eye.

A paper nailed to the wall.

He yanked it off the wall and read it out loud.

Dear Percy Jackson,

Do you like the present?

I knew you'd like it.

The adults were quite easy to kill as they were too busy shielding the six-year-old.

You know what?

You have a very beautiful sister.

Too bad you won't have the chance to see her anymore.

She's mine now.

I take very good care of her. I promise.

See you soon. If we must.
