Chapter 22

"What exactly happened when you guys were down there?" Jason asked, once the demigods made themselves comfortable at the room by the stairs leading to the basement.

Piper was leaning in Hazel's arms, trying to contain the fear in her. Whatever Destiny was doing down in the basement was affecting Piper greatly. However, she told the demigods nothing.

Travis glanced at Piper before swallowing, "Well, we didn't really get to do anything. It took us awhile to make it down there."

"Yeah, we had to find the stairs that led to the basement. Plus, there was a huge lock on the doors. We didn't have the chance to even break in." Connor added.

Leo nodded furiously, "I was about to bust out my big tools before they came and caught us." Then he turned and glared at Nico and Thalia, "And we thought that Thalia or Nico would warn us if people were here."

"I would've expected Katie to give us some warning instead of them." Travis nodded at his girlfriend.

Katie shrugged, "We never got to make a sound. We were caught by surprised. Plus even if we did warn you, there's no where you could've hide."

Frank raised his hands in a motion to calm everyone down and sighed, "Why don't you guys just explained what exactly went on down there."

Leo rolled his eyes, "Exactly what we just said! We went down there and before we could do anything, Thalia, Nico and Katie went back up saying that they'd prefer to wait for the Phoenix to return instead of snooping around. Trav, Con and I got excited when we saw the lock. And then, when we were in the middle of figuring out the lock, the Phoenix came back. Man, I really wanna try and break in."

Thalia snorted, "Hence why you guys got caught. You guys were lucky that they didn't kill you guys on the spot."

"I think they could sense it when we intruded." Hazel pointed out.

"Hmm maybe." Grover agreed.

"How are you feeling Grover?" Thalia changed the subject.

Grover shrugged, rubbing the back of his neck, "Still getting used to it. He's gotten really powerful. I can still feel the pain."

"Why did he hide though?" Nico started after awhile of silence.

"Perhaps he thinks that we would side with Annabitch." Clarisse growled.

"But he should know us. We would never do that."

"He loved Annabeth. And when the one you love betrays you, you'll naturally think that everyone else would too." Piper explained.

"What about the Phoenix then? Why did he think he could trust them?"

"I guess it may be because he has a sister here and they didn't know about his past."

"Surely the Phoenix wouldn't just allow him into their circle without some background."

"To be honest, I don't really care how he joined the Phoenix. All I care is that we've found him and we have a chance to reconcile with him. I don't know about you guys, but I need Percy back." With that, Katie stopped all discussion and silence filled the room once again.

After awhile, figures began to emerge from the bottom of the stairs.

Leading the Phoenix up the stairs was an unconscious Alpha in the arms of Ark.

The demigods leaped to their feet.

"What happened to him?" Nico rushed to Ark's side.

"He had a major flashback." Destiny answered his questions. "He needs to rest. Please let Ark send him to his room. You can talk to him later when he wakes."

Piper stayed behind, letting the demigods crowd around Ark. Hazel looked at Piper, worried that she might collapse again but the child of Aphrodite gave her a simple smile and gestured for her to go on.

Destiny noticed Piper's actions and too begin to pull herself away from her family.

"Piper."

Said girl reached out and engulfed the descendant of Hecate into a hug, "How are you?"

Destiny was surprised at first but soon got over her shock and returned the favour, "I am fine. Did I hurt you?"

Piper shook her head as they let go of each other, "No, it didn't hurt. Just a bit dizzy."

"I'm sorry. I tried to contain it."

"There's no point, it wouldn't work. No matter how much you try to hide it, I can still feel it. The more you struggle, the more stronger it is. You must know that."

"Yes, I'm starting to realise that."

"I have a question though. If I could feel your feelings, is it possible that we share them? Maybe then you wouldn't have to carry such strong feelings around you all the time and hopefully it would help ease your pain."

"To be honest, I have no idea. Maybe someday we can try it out, but for night, I think it's best we get some sleep. It's been a long day."

"Yeah you're right. Good night then."

"Good night."

Huge filler chapter.

Okay, so not that huge. It's really short I know but I wanted to let you guys know what happened down in the basement when the demigods went down. Are you guys curious what's in the basement? I hope this chapter managed to cause curiosity in some of you. (High hopes for such a short chapter haha soz)
