That's part 2 of Grimmer's one-shot. A way of apologising for the late update.
I don't recommend to read if you want fluff, and because it's short too.

The next day, the two of them woke up late, because they preferred basking in eachother's hold, instead of facing the long day ahead.
They smiled at eachother, asking about their wellbeing, wether it was mentally or physically after the long night that they had.
Before he hoped in the shower, he pressed her to his body and mumbled how he was going to protect her with his life, and how much she means to him. He can't put her life in danger when she just saved his.
They had a small breakfast, talking and smiling at eachother. None of them could contain the bubbly feeling in their stomachs, the happy ache in their hearts, the sparkly eyes that each of them was giving the other.
And the sweet kiss they shared at the doorway when he was going out, they kept on touching their own lips all day when he was away.
The usually gloomy weather was looking all sunny today, the breeze was soft and lively.
The sky was clear and its shade of blue was a light pastel that made the city look more shiny.
After awhile, and after she was sitting on the table coloring with Dieter who had a huge smile on his face.
She saw the weather outside started to change, it was getting cloudy and dark, and she didn't help but think back that Grimmer didn't take an umbrella or a hooded coat with him.
She was teaching Dieter not to colour outside the space for it, when she heard harsh knocking on the front door.
Dieter flinched and started to back away, when she hugged him and told him not to worry.
She walked slowly toward the door, knowing well it wasn't Grimmer because he has a key with him, and she wasn't expecting anyone. She doesn't even know many people around here.
She took a look through the door's hole, when she found a woman from the neighborhood, screaming at her and calling her names, all while holding an old style gun.
Frightened, y/n looked behind the lady, just to see puddles of blood on the street, on the wall of the house that's facing hers, there was even a body laying in the middle of the road.
She quickly locked all the doors and windows, grabbing Dieter's hand she led him to the attic.
She lit a small lamp, and rummaged through the things there.
Dieter kept asking repeatedly of what's happening, while she kept assuring him that everything is going to be fine, and he shouldn't worry because she was with him.
She kept looking through the boxes and things, until she pulled a large rolled piece of fabric.
She pulled the fabric away to reveal an old rifle.
She turned to the child beside her who was about to piss himself.
"This is to protect you Dieter...I will never hurt you.." she hugged him and kissed his head.
They both went back to the living room, and heard people's voices starting to fade a bit.
When suddenly a piercing sound of ringing cut through the silence. It turns out to be the phone's sound.
She hurried to the phone and held it to her ear with Dieter trailing behind her, to hear the soft but panicked voice of Grimmer telling her to hide herself and Dieter until he comes back.
She kept asking about his whereabouts and wellbeing but he kept saying that he is fine and not to worry.
"Please y/n hide well...I love you.." He said at last.
"Grimmer where are-"
"Please y/n I love you!" He shouted.
"I..I love you more Grimmer..." she said before she heard the kine cut off.
After half hour of pretending that's everything is fine infront of Dieter and comforting him, despite her glossy red eyes.
She couldn't contain her worry and sadness more, so she put hers and Dieter's coat on. She held his hand in her left hand, and hung her rifle on her right shoulder.
They ran outside in the empty streets, running around trying desperately to find a clue where is Grimmer, not forgetting to cover Dieter's eyes from the bloody scenes.
She was tired from pulling him behind her and he was tired from trying to keep up with her, so she held him in her arms and kept running.
She stopped infront of an orphanage that he had mentioned before, and decided to search for him there.
She put the kid down, when she noticed small drops of blood.
She went inside, fear creeping inside her chest but she held her ground.
She reached a small room from following the blood trail when she saw a silhouette of a man standing in the middle.
She peeked inside more to see her beloved Grimmer plopped on a chair with blood dripping down his mouth and torso.
She ran inside aiming her rifle toward the black haired man standing infront of her lover.
"What have you done to him?!" She screamed making sure her kid is well hidden behind her.
He was about to defend himself, when a weak voice spoke from behind.
"Y/n my darling...he didn't...he helped me instead..." He said.
"G-Grimmer.." she let the rifle fall to the ground and ran to him, pressing on his wound.
"Let's get you some help!...I'll help you..!!.you will get well soon..!!" She said quickly in panic.
"Grimmer dad..." called out Dieter with tears streaming down his face.
Grimmer struggled to lift his hand, but he did anyway and put it on her face, while the other was held by Dieter.
"Y/n my darling....I finally found myself and my humanity...all thanks to you..." He spoke slowly and weakly.
"Grimmer please...I love you..." she said with her tears streaming down.
"I'm sorry...I can't stay longer with you...I'll be always...with you..." his hand that was on her face fell down, and the light in his eyes faded away.
She held his body close to hers and sobbed harshly, Dieter clinged to both of them crying out loud.
Their time together was short lived but it impacted their whole lives...
