"Cameron wake up baby. Get yourself ready for the day. Brush you hair, brush your teeth, and wash your face. You hear me?"

"Ma I know what to do. I'm 6 years old now." He said in a sleepy voice with his head under the covers.

"That's right. You are 6 today aren't you?" I pulled the covers from off of his body and started to tickle him.

"Mom stop. My stomach hurts." He said in between laughs.

"Alright. I'll leave you alone for the moment. How about you go get ready while I go make some breakfast."

"Ok mom." He left the room leaving me there alone. I stood there in shock because I'm raising a son all alone. I had no other choice but to raise him by myself after his father left. I had my parents but I didn't want to put my child on my parents when they had their own kids to raise. After Tyreese left I became a professional photographer which really helped me pay my bills and provide for me and Cameron.

I soon came back to reality realizing I still had breakfast to make. I went downstairs in the kitchen and grabbed the things I needed. After about a good five minutes Cameron came downstairs and sat on a stool at the bar.

"Mom do you think dad is going to show up at my party today?"

As soon as he asked the question I frowned. He couldn't see my face because my back was facing him.

"I don't know baby. Maybe there will be a miracle and he will show up, but there's no promises." I was trying to encourage him to keep his head up. Every time we talk about his dad he gets upset. I hate seeing him like that so I do what I gotta do.

"Ok. I just hope he does because I really want to meet him."

"That's enough talking for now. We have a busy day ahead of us." I sat his breakfast in front of him then he began to dig in.

Happy Birthday to you.......

Family and friends sung to Cameron as he looked down at his cake. When we finished singing he blew out his candles. He cut the cake and I passed it out to everyone. As we were eating he looked through everyone to see if his dad was around. I could tell he didn't find him because he looked down at his cake with a disappointed look. He looked back up at me and I just gave him an assuring look.

We moved on to the gifts and I could still see that look on Cameron's face. We went through the same thing every year. Cameron looks for his dad he never shows up Cameron goes to sleep upset. That's no way to spend your birthday or any day for that matter. The only time Cameron has seen his father is in old pictures we took way back when. It's sad because it's just sad.

The party was coming to an end and he still didn't show up. I'm not surprised at all. Me and Cameron led the guest out. As soon as everyone was gone we started to clean up.

"Mom he didn't show up. I really thought he would show up this time."

"I know baby." I knelt down so we would be eye to eye. "Everything will be alright. You understand?"

"Yes ma'am." He said with in a low voice.

"I want you to smile for me." He smiled a wide smile. "Good. Now I want you to go upstairs and get yourself ready for bed. I'll clean the rest of this up."

"Ok." That's all he said before running upstairs.
