"Mona, please, listen to what I'm telling you," Minerva was growing frustrated with her, holding both hands out to the cabin in front of her. The winter storms had destroyed it, ruining what little structure it had left. There was a gaping hole in the floor, the entire roof had come down on one side, the staircase was obliterated and any notion of repairing it was long gone. "It's a death trap. For the love of god, pick a different cabin."

"They're all death traps, according to you," Mona snapped, "they all need work done. I don't see the point in doing up one of the others when it's in the same state."

"Look at it!" Minerva gestured to it sharply, jabbing at it with her hands, "it's got no bloody roof!"

"So we put in a new roof!"

"On what supports? All I'm saying is that we're better off ripping the whole thing down and building a new one in its place."

"I don't want to do that. I want to renovate a cabin, I want to revive an old structure, I don't want to wipe it off the planet just to put something new in there."

"Then pick a different cabin because you're not using this one anymore."

"Yes I am. You're not going to stop me."

Exasperated, Minerva threw her hands up in the air and spun around, marching back to the car. Mona wasn't listening to her and she'd had enough of saying the same things over and over again.

"Get in, we're going home," Minerva told her but Mona folded her arms stubbornly.

"No."

"Mona."

"No!"

"There's going to be a storm, and I'm not leaving you out here in the pissing rain, so get in the fucking car, because we're going home," Minerva rarely, if ever, raised her voice at Mona, but she was angry and despite trying to remind herself that Mona wasn't used to people caring about her wellbeing, she wasn't able to calm down.

Mona froze and then went to argue, but heavy raindrops splattering on her face made her stop and look up. Minerva grit her teeth and squeezed the door handle to stop herself from storming over, grabbing Mona and throwing her in the car. With a huff, Mona sulked over and got in the passenger side. Minerva slammed the drivers door and violently spun the car around.

"Can you be fucking careful?"

"Oh, so you're perfectly happy to endanger yourself in a literal pile of rotting wood and rusted metal, with holes that drop forty foot underground, but my driving is the thing that makes you worry about your safety?"

"It's raining, it's muddy, the car could slip and wrap around a tree, Minerva. Just because you're pissed at me, doesn't mean you get to try and take us both out."

Minerva ignored her, knowing perfectly well that she was capable of getting them back to the castle safely. A small voice told her to stop, to listen to what Mona was actually telling her, what was hidden in her words and tone but Minerva didn't listen. The drive back to the castle was tense and deathly silent.

It only remained that way until they got into the wing, where Mona exploded.

"Why are you being like this? You're always so nice and gentle and now you're being a fucking dick!"

"Excuse me?!" Minerva laughed at the absurdity, "I'm expressing concern for your safety and you're telling me I'm being a dick? You cannot be serious!"

"No, you ain't! You never wanted me to have that cabin! The first visit we had told me that! 'Oh it's been broken into' 'oh it's too dangerous' 'I want a security system installed'. You didn't never stop to think about what I wanted! Just like everyone else!"
