"You wait until I find you, Desdemona. You'll regret ever thinking you could walk out on me."
Mona deleted the voicemail, alongside the missed calls she had from Freya. The woman had been nonstop, wracking up hundreds of calls and almost the same amount of voicemails. Ever since Mona had cancelled the money, Freya had wanted to contact her.
Not when Mona had left, not after the event which she'd been at. Only after she'd cancelled the direct debit. The implications of that made Mona sad, so she'd done her best to not think about it. They'd been back from Esmé's almost a week, and Minerva had been so busy that they'd barely spent time together.
That was okay. Mona didn't need to be around her all the time, and found other ways to make herself busy. She'd used the equipment Minerva had bought to fix Ada's necklace, and had set up her game room.
However, with Freya constantly harassing her, Mona found herself seeking Minerva's company. Switch in hand, she wandered into Minerva's office, taking a seat in the small circular chair by the window.
"Fine," Minerva was on the phone, swivelling her chair gently from side to side, "however that is no excuse for what was given to me. If you're going to insist on doing a half arsed job, then maybe I should start giving you a half arsed pay."
Mona sniggered quietly. She found a lot of amusement in the way Minerva dealt with people.
"Then you best get a full project plan to me by tomorrow afternoon. I can't sign off on it the way it is now."
Settling comfortably in the chair, Mona tried to focus on her switch, but her phone rang again. Blocking the number didn't help. She'd done that. Freya was now calling her off a multitude of other numbers, and as quick as Mona blocked one, she had a new one ready to go.
"Honestly," Minerva muttered, phone landing on the desk. Mona didn't disturb her, quietly playing her game.
Every few minutes her phone was vibrating, and eventually Minerva made a comment.
"What is that noise?" She was irritated, and Mona shrunk in her seat.
"My phone," her response was meek and she put the switch down, staring at the phone on the armrest. "Sorry."
"Why aren't you answering?"
"I don't want to."
"Well can you turn the vibrate off? Or just turn the phone off? It's hard to concentrate."
"I could but...," Mona's reply was quiet and she began to uncurl herself from the chair, "I don't wanna miss anything important. I'll leave you be, sorry."
"You don't have to leave," Minerva told her, "the phone just has to stop."
As she spoke, it rang again and Mona stared at it, tears blurring her eyes.
"Why won't she leave me alone?" She asked, sniffling. Minerva looked at her screens, before sighing softly and getting up, coming over to Mona.
"Who, pet?"
"Freya. She keeps calling and calling."
"May I have your phone?"
"You ain't gonna answer are you?"
"Not at all. You do back your phone up to a cloud of some kind, yes?"
"Yeah, it did one last week."
"Wonderful."
Minerva took Mona's phone, then went to her window, opened it and pulled her arm back, throwing the phone so far it became a speck in the distance. Mona's jaw dropped and she spluttered.
