Nicole's POV
I walked through glancing briefly toward every game booth and food booth before walking up to the ticket booth. Josh took out his wallet and paid for tickets to the rides for the rest of the day. I smiled feeling like a little kid again as they wrapped the bracelet around my wrist. We had only went to the fair a couple of times as a family but they were still some of the best days of my life. Those were the days we actually bonded as a family and had fun.
I took Josh's hand and lead him to one of the game booths I saw. It was a game where you had to throw darts and pop balloons. When you popped a certain amount of balloons, you got a reward.
"I'll play," Josh said.
"Okay. It'll be $3 for 3 darts. You have to pop 2 balloons for a minor prize and 3 for a major prize." the guy running the booth said.
I glanced toward the major prizes and there was a giant panda bear, a teddy bear holding a heart that said," I love you," a giant blow up hammer, and a light up sword.
Josh handed the man $3 and leant over whispering," I got this." he winked. "I'm the champion of this game."
I laughed and stood back to let him work his magic. I watched him as he focused his eyes on a balloon, a serious expression on his face. He let the dart fly from his hand and it missed, landing right between two balloons. I giggled as I saw him frown, a disappointed look on his face.
I walked over to him. "So you're the champion I hear?" I said playfully.
"Yes, I am." he said with a straight face. "This one is hard..." he whined.
"Fine, lemme try it."
I took a dart from his hand and threw it at a balloon. It popped it landing perfectly in the middle. "See, now that's skill," I said looking toward Josh, a smug look on my face.
His mouth was open agape and I smiled urging challenging him to go again. "That was definitely luck," he said.
"Well done," the guy spoke up flashing me a smile. He looked about in his twenties, and he was obviously trying to hit on me.
I said a simple," Thanks," before drawing my attention back to Josh.
His gaze was directed toward a single balloon again as he tried to make a shot. This time though, he hit the balloon. He jumped up in the air threw his hands up yelling," Yay!" before turning to me. "See, I told you. I just had to warm up. That's all."
"Uh huh, warm up.... Definitely." I chuckled and turned my attention to the man.
"So would you like a minor prize or would you like to buy more darts for a chance at the major prize? Darts are 2 for $1 the second time."
"Uh, I think we'll take the minor prize."I started.
"No." he cut me off. He handed the guy $1. "I'm going for the major prize." he smirked toward me.
I just shook my head, he probably just wanted the big hammer to hit me in the head with. I walked away as he guy handed him 2 darts. I watched him as he threw it and missed. Again. I walked back over. "Here lemme get it. You can get your stupid hammer."
"Nope." he moved his hand out of my reach. "I'm gonna get this one."
He seemed so determined I almost burst out laughing. "Okay," I stepped back.
He hit it this time and I saw a grin spread across his face. "See! I told you I could do it!" he said, his face beaming. I smiled and impatiently tapped my foot as I waited for him to get his prize.
