Chapter 5

Nicole's POV

I fumbled around with the hangers in my closet not knowing what to wear. I finally decided upon some jean shorts and a pink short sleeve v-neck shirt. I put on some light makeup and straightened my hair before unplugging my phone from the charger and going to my living room. I glanced at the time and it was 6:50. I was so anxious and I really wanted to know where we were going. Finally I heard my doorbell ring. I ran to answer it and found Josh standing there hands in his pockets smiling at me. I smiled back before stepping out of my apartment and locking the door behind me. He took my hand in his and led me to his car which was a black and yellow Camaro.

Walking over to the passenger side, he opened the door for me before running back to the other side and taking a seat.

"So.... Where are we going?" I tried asking.

"You'll find out soon enough," he replied smiling.

I sighed. I had always hated surprises. I crossed my arms over my chest and looked out the window. We were going off campus and I could see the campus lights fading away behind us.

"Any hints?"

"Nah... Just wait babe. Have some patience."

"I don't have patience, and you know how much I hate surprises," I replied frowning.

"Just wait..... I promise you'll love it in the end though."

"Fine.... This better be worth it."

We finally arrived at the seashore and it was starting to get dark out. I looked ahead and saw a restaurant up ahead. It was a restaurant on a boat. I gasped and took Josh's hand and ran up to the door.

"Wow someone's excited," Josh smirked.

"Shut up, I've never been on one of these before." I relied punching him in the arm playfully. He mocked hurt before pulling me inside the restaurant. As soon as I walked in, I could smell the strong aroma of seafood drawing me in. I had always loved seafood but I never knew how to make it other than heat up the frozen fish sticks in the microwave.

"Hope you like seafood," Josh said.

"Of course, I love seafood."

"Thats good."

We sat down at one of the booths and ordered our food. We ate dinner and after we were done, Josh paid and led me outside onto the square patch of grass close to the restaurant. He took out a table cloth from his car and spread it out onto the grass. He laid down onto it and I laid down on it beside him resting my head on his chest. The rhythmic rising and lowering of his chest almost lured me to sleep when he spoke up. He suddenly sat up and I did too and cocked my head at him not understanding what was happening. It was almost dark but the lights from the restaurant illuminated his face giving this a mysterious feeling.

"So um, babe, I was wondering...." he suddenly sounded very nervous and he started fidgeting with his fingers. I took his hands in mine and gave them a reassuring squeeze before smiling at him asking him to continue on.

"I know we've only known each other a few days but it seems like I've known you for a lifetime. I know you are the one. You are my everything, you are all that I could ever want. Every time I see you, kiss you, or even think about you, I have butterflies I my stomach. I want to be the guy that you kiss goodnight every evening. I want to be the one that protects you and holds you close whenever you are scared or sad. I want to be the guy that punches whoever dares lay a finger on you. I want to be the one that shares all the special moments with you in your life. My girl, my sunshine, my everything. I love you so much Nicole. Will you be my girlfriend?" as he said this, he took a little box from his pocket and gave it to me. I opened it and gasped. Inside were a pair of diamond earrings and a matching necklace.
