***MAZE'S POV***
I long for your presence, your gaze, your touch. Your embrace. My soul aches due to this empty void you have left behind. My body is here, sitting on this couch. People come in and out of this room, and although I can hear them talk and shuffle around. My mind hears but does not listen. So here I am floating in this agonizing silence, waiting to hear you call out to me. I do not know your name. Oh, how I wish, no, I need to know your name. How is it that you haven't looked for me. Do you not want me? Do you not need me? Does your body not crave mine the same way mine craves for yours?
My mind is full of questions and uncertainties. Yet I am a mother, so I cannot indulge in my self-pity like I did last time. I cannot get lost in my own pain.
"Maze." I heard someone call me.
"Maze!" The voice became stronger, almost shouting.
"FUCK, MAZE. ANSWER ME!" I finally broke out of my bubble and realized it was Nathan calling out to me.
"Mind the way you speak to me or I will have your tongue." I raise an eye brow. Completely annoyed now.
"I apologize, Master." He stiffens, lingers on what to say next but decides to just walk away.
I instantly feel terrible for the way I spoke to him. I need to clear the air with him but everything was just happening too fast. All I could think of was that stranger...
"Maze, they took daddy to the mother land. He will make a full recovery there." Cassie informs me. "Since I am human, I cannot go with him. My dad cannot go with him either he has to stay here and watch over the tribe." She sniffles, trying not to cry. "Also, my dad has called for you to meet him in his office." She wiped her tears away. I nod and smile. I take my sleeping baby, Minmin and hand her to Cassie.
"Maze, wait." Cassie hesitates for a moment. "I know what happened between you and Nathan. You two need to talk things out. You better do it now before you lose him." She warns. I don't say a thing and make my way towards Sam's office.
***RYO'S POV***
It has been weeks since I met my mate. Zabieru has been going insane clawing at me from the inside trying to get out. I've heard of how mates have a hard time staying away from each other but this is different. Even I myself cannot take this anymore. I NEED to see her again.
"Alpha." Miles speaks. "The chief of the Zale clan is on the phone for you." He informs me.
I take the phone from him, ripping me from my thoughts and desires. "This is Alpha Allen."
"Greetings and blessings to you and your pack, Alpha Allen." He greets me.
"Thank you, Chief Sam. My heart goes to you and your family. How is Chief Jake?" I ask with worry in my voice.
"He has been taken to our homeland to rest where there he will make a full recovery." He exhales deeply. "I actually wanted to speak with you about someone who I have taken into my care. I was hoping you could provide her with safe sanctuary."
"I would love to..." I respond.
"Before you say no, please hear me out." He pauses. I wait patiently for him to finish his sentence. "You see, we have taken in this girl. She has no parents. They passed to the underworld when she was young. We believe she is involved with the investigation you are under seeing at this moment." He catches me by surprise.
"What makes you think I am investing such a thing?" I question him, attempting not to confirm his suspicions.
"I have my ways, as I know you do as well. Trust me, Alpha Allen. It will benefit you if you give her refuge." He coughs. "I hate to be asking you this. I wish I could keep her here, but we are afraid the Cresent Moon pack will attack again. When they do, I would truly love for the young girl to be far away from here as possible."
