Somehow, I had convinced myself that living with five supernatural mates wouldn't be absolute chaos.
I was wrong.
Very, very wrong.
It was almost midnight when I shuffled into the kitchen, craving something sweet. I had barely made it to the fridge when I heard hurried footsteps behind me.
"Maeve, don't!" Juri's voice was sharp.
I froze, hand on the fridge handle. "Why?"
"Just—trust me, don't open it."
Naturally, I ignored him.
And then I saw them.
The moment the fridge door swung open, all hell broke loose.
Dorian lunged for me, his vampire speed making him nothing but a blur. Before he could reach me, Zac tackled him mid-air, sending them both crashing into the counter. Hunter was already shifting, his growl rumbling through the kitchen. Emilia was perched on the island, laughing her ass off like this was the best entertainment she'd had all week.
Juri? Juri just sighed—tired, done, resigned to the madness.
I blinked. "You're all losing your minds over cupcakes?"
Dorian shoved Zac off him, his sharp fangs flashing. "They are mine," he growled. "Blood-infused cupcakes."
I squinted at him. "Vampire cupcakes?"
"Yes," Zac wheezed from where he was still recovering from Dorian's attack. "And he doesn't share."
Juri carefully took my wrist and gently guided me away from the fridge like I was a child about to touch fire. "Just walk away, Mae."
"But they're cupcakes!" I protested. "They're meant to be eaten!"
Dorian gave me a deadpan look. "By me."
Emilia wiped tears from her eyes, still giggling. "Maeve, we begged him to share. Didn't work. He literally bit Hunter over them once."
I turned to Dorian, unimpressed. "You bit Hunter?"
Hunter, standing shirtless with his arms crossed, scowled. "Twice."
Dorian folded his arms, not even a little ashamed. "It was justified."
"No, it wasn't," Hunter snapped.
Zac, still half-laughing, pointed at Dorian. "Did you not just go feral over pastries?"
"Would do it again," Dorian said flatly.
Juri pinched the bridge of his nose. "I hate all of you."
I turned back to Dorian and sighed dramatically. "You really won't let me have one?"
Dorian hesitated. His lips pressed into a thin line, like he was in physical pain just considering it.
And then—he groaned. "Fine. One."
The room went dead silent.
Zac dropped his drink. Emilia gasped dramatically. Juri looked stunned. Hunter muttered something about the world ending.
"You shared food," Zac whispered, horrified. "Are you dying?"
Dorian grumbled something under his breath before grabbing a cupcake and shoving it into my hands. "Take it and never speak of this again."
I held up the cupcake like a trophy. "Victory tastes sweet."
Dorian sighed, rubbing his temples. "You are so lucky you're cute."
"That I am," I agreed, happily taking a bite.
Sure, living with them was absolute chaos.
But honestly?
I wouldn't have it any other way.
This keeps the same vibe but with the correct mates! Let me know if you want any other tweaks!
