•~* Michael's POV *~
When we arrived at Mallory's house, Daniel began to bounce around excitedly. "I get to meet a pretty girl!" he exclaimed.
I laughed and picked him up. "You sure do." I replied, flashing into the house. Jacob clung to me tightly.
"Do you think she'll like me?" he asked, looking extremely worried. He smoothed out his hair with his hand, frowning when it wouldn't straighten out. I chuckled, ruffling his hair up again.
"She'll love you, little man." I replied, grabbing his small hand. "C'mon."
We went upstairs into Mallory's bedroom. She was sitting up on her bed, reading a book. I cleared my throat, and she looked up.
"Hey Mikey..... Who's this?" she asked, smiling a little at Daniel. Daniel bashfully hid behind my legs. I reached back and messed with his hair for the millionth time, knowing it would annoy him. Sure enough, he jumped out from behind my legs, trying to smooth his curly hair out with his tiny hands.
"Well, go on." I said, chuckling. "Tell her your name." I gave him a gentle push towards Mallory.
Daniel turned bright red, and looked down at his shoes. He bit his finger, smiling shyly. I nudged him with my foot.
"C'mon, little dude." I laughed. "Don't be shy, she won't bite." I placed my hand on his shoulder, and transferred some confidence into him.
Daniel grinned at Mallory. "Hi Mallory, my name is Daniel." he said with the help of the confidence burst. Mallory gave a teeny smile and waved.
"He's my partner in crime." I announced teasingly. Daniel giggled, hugging my leg.
"He's like my big bro." he said cooly. I laughed and patted his back.
Suddenly, Daniel flashed out of the room. I jumped, alarmed. "Daniel?" I called. "Daniel, where are you?"
You made a big mistake, Michael. Head Angel's voice filled my head. Daniel is back at the Children's Home. He's fine, but you're not about to be.
Oh no... I knew what was coming next. I took a deep breath, bracing myself. About two seconds later, the pain hit. I stumbled backwards, biting my tongue to keep from yelling out profanities that would only make it worse. The pain filled my whole body, causing me to scream.
"Michael, what's going on? Michael!" Mallory cried, rushing to my side. "Mikey, are you okay?" her eyes were filled up with tears.
By now, the horrid punishment was over, and I took a deep breath. My wings ached from the torture they had endured today. I slowly sat up, groaning as waves of pain shot down my wings and back.
"Michael, what just happened?" Mallory asked. She gently rubbed my back, and began softly tracing her fingers all over my sore wings.
"Punishment." I replied, sighing. "It's pain infliction. I wasn't supposed to bring Daniel with me."
I lay back on Mallory's bed, feeling guilt wash over me. Daniel was probably really upset right now. I knew this was a bad idea. I should've listened to my gut.
