Sasuke

The days after Naruto's election party had been a blur for Sasuke. Even alcohol couldn't drown out the shallow feeling in his heart. The realization that he was at fault, that the resentment for his father had very little to do with his relationship with Sakura, scarred him far more than he would have anticipated.

He couldn't even look in the mirror. He probably looked like a piece of shit. Not surprising, he felt like crap. He barely munched on few tomatoes and slept only when the sun begin to rise. If anyone saw him, they would think he was a ghost.

It was his fault. Everything was his fault. He got scared and lost the girl of his dreams.

He tried to let go of it, to let go of her but no woman ever came close to his heart like she did.

She was his spring sunshine.

Now every time he looked at cherry blossom trees or heard her music playing in the radio, he wanted to strangle himself.

That's probably why he called Naruto, late at night, too drunk to even function, but Naruto still got sense from his blabbering and the next morning he assembled a team of perhaps Sasuke's only supporters.

Sasuke really regretted that decision when the following morning Naruto, Itachi and Shisui towered over him while he laid on the couch, eyes closed, trying to tune Itachi's lecture about the mess he made, Shisui pointing out how horrible he looked and Naruto being quiet.

Yeah, the last part was the most unusual.

However, the only reason he was being quiet was that he already gave Sasuke an earful and crowned him as the biggest idiot who ever walked on this Earth. He also played the song "I think I love you" by the Partridges, causing Sasuke to almost strangle him and Shisui to roll on the floor from laughing.

After that, Sasuke remained silent for the time being, letting them exhaust themselves from all the lecturing. That's what he often did when he had a meeting with potential partners or other businessmen. He let them talk, pour their hearts out, until they were done. Only then would they listen carefully to what he had to say. They were easily swayed by his ideas like that too.

"Oi, quit being a jerk and speak up, Sasuke!" Shisui exclaimed after Sasuke gave him no answer to his million questions.

"I have nothing to tell you." He ground out, then glared at Naruto who was the reason why Itachi and Shisui were here.

"Don't look at me, I only called Itachi." Naruto shrugged. Sasuke glared at his brother now.

"Don't look at me, he insisted." Itachi pointed his thumb over Shisui.

"You guys really know how to make someone feel wanted." Shisui grumbled.

"Anyways," Itachi turned to Sasuke, ignoring Shisui's complaints. "What's your next move, little brother?"

"What do you mean?" Sasuke asked, perplexed. Was there really something he could do? Other than messing up more, of course.

"What Itachi means," Shisui chimed in, getting over his pouting. "is that, are you giving up?"

"About Sakura?"

"No, your high school teacher, Orochimaru. Of course, Sakura, you idiot!" Shisui smacked him on the head with a newspaper.

Sasuke grabbed the newspaper and smacked Shisui back with a glare, then he replied, "I don't know. She's clearly not interested in ever crossing paths with me. If she could, I'm sure she would blink me away from existence with a snap of her fingers."
