Chapter 15: Time For Vacation (2/2)

Sakura

She didn't know why, but her tears kept streaming down her face. Her whole body was shaking and it was getting harder to breathe.

"You've moved on, but I can never do that, because I still love you!" His words kept ringing in her head.

He kept apologizing, he acted nice because he still loved her!

But what would happen when that love disappeared?

She should be happy, knowing he torments just as much as her, but his suffering isn't the remedy she thought it would be. Instead, it's making her sick.

She wanted to run away, vomit all her feelings and empty her head from this sharp-ended thoughts. Why now?!

Why say what he feels now?

If he loved her, why didn't he come back to Konoha?

Why didn't he call her, text her or go to New York to see her? Why didn't he ever reach out to her?

Few years ago, she would've gladly taken him back. Swallowed her pain and anger and let him hold her like no other.

But after their interaction at the wedding, after everything that happened this year, she didn't know why his words bothered her now.

She had Gaara, she had her friends and family. She didn't want Sasuke, didn't want all the yelling and arguing, all the fighting and unexpected feelings back in her life.

But the thrill, the excitement, the desire, the unexplainable compassion she had with him...

No.

No, no, no.

She wasn't going to start thinking what it was like to be with him. She was in a relationship. She loved Gaara.

Sakura didn't miss Sasuke.

Didn't want to be with him.

After all, she walked out on him. Left him there alone when he just confessed his feelings.

Just like he did.

She didn't intend to do so, Sakura just didn't trust herself to be in a room with him anymore. It was too much. She was already overwhelmed enough. And the fact that she walked out on him like that gave her flashbacks of their high school! Just like now, he confessed his feelings and she left him behind, and at the end of the senior year, she confessed again and he left her behind.

This was supposed to be a vacation.

Sakura didn't say anything to Sasuke when they sat down in the car Neji sent for them. Didn't even look his way, just stared dumbly to her phone while it charged. She desperately wanted to snuggle in her jacket, but she would never ask Sasuke back for it.

When they arrived at the resort, Sakura and Sasuke went their separate ways. Naruto found him, cheerfully clapping him on his back and saying something to him and Hinata next to them. Sakura, meanwhile, was surprised by Gaara standing in front of her. Wthout a word, he wrapped his hand around her waist and pulled her in for a kiss. It took her a moment to kiss him back, but her eyes refused look away from Sasuke who stared back at her too. Just for five seconds. Then he turned his back and walked on the stairs with Naruto and Hinata.
