Sakura
It cannot possibly get any worth! Sakura thought in her mind, hands curling into fists from frustration. She was sitting in the front seat of Sasuke's car while he kept his gaze on the road.
How in the world did she end up in this situation? Well, that's one blonde gossip queen's fault.
"It's fine Sakura. This is an opportunity to prove yourself." She said. Opportunity her ass.
A week ago, Neji invited the whole crew to go on a vacation at the Hyuga Mountain Resort. He and Hinata thought it would be a perfect way to celebrate Naruto's victory and also take a break from all the stress from work. The fact that Neji was the one who proposed this idea sparked many questions but instead of inquiring, they decided to go with the flow and enjoy the vacation.
However, Tsunade was in Amegakure for few day and so she asked Sakura to take over her position, so the pinkette had to stay back for four days. Plus, she had two songs to finish recording. Consequently, everyone - except Sakura, Gaara, Naruto and Sasuke - had left. Gaara and Naruto had some crucial work to finish up and from what Hinata said, Sasuke's excuse was basically the same too.
Sakura hoped she would go with Gaara or Naruto once they finished up working, but that backstabbing blond left without telling Sakura. His excuse was a little pathetic too: "I missed my Hinata and couldn't wait to see her." Yeah, right. At least he could've told her! But no, he left at 1 a.m and drove six hours to see his wife!
Yes, it was romantic, but he also got on Sakura's nerves.
The thing is, she would've happily left with Gaara, but due to the complications in Suna, he didn't know when he would be able to leave. So, as charming as he is, Gaara insisted that Sakura go before him. He trusted her so much he told her that it was okay to drive with Sasuke, even if none of them liked the idea. He really was that perfect!
Ino also vouched for the idea, saying it would be a good way to prove to herself and everyone that she really didn't care about Sasuke anymore, that she didn't mind spending six hours with her "High shool pal". Pal, riiiiight.
To make things more awkward, turns out Sasuke straight up told Naruto that he didn't care and it would make no difference for him if she rode with him or not. That got her riled up. If Sasuke didn't care, then she didn't either. So, out of her own stubbornness and other contributing factors, Sakura agreed to go with him.
Sitting next to him was... intense. Maybe awkward too. For the first two hours, Sakura listened to music, trying to tune out her surroundings and forget that next to her was sitting a man she shed thousand tears for. It wasn't easy, every time she glanced around, she saw him driving carefully, not taking his eyes off the road. She didn't know if his silence was a good thing or a bad thing, but Sakura certainly was grateful for it. It gave her a chance to clam down and get accustomed to the situation.
She listened to her favorite songs, distracting herself from her anxious thoughts, but after two hours her ears started hurting and she couldn't listen anymore. Sakura felt so frustrated but she knew she couldn't last like that for the next four hours. She had to think of something else. If she was going to prove to herself that Sasuke Uchiha was no longer a problem, then she had to start acting like it.
"Can I turn on the radio?"
For the first time today, she spoke to him. Sasuke didn't say anything, didn't even glance her way, the only indication that he heard her was that he took his hand off from the steering wheel and pushed a button on the screen. Instantly, it glowed and the music started blasting from the speakers.
