Liam’s P.O.V.
I walked into the hospital room. My mom smiled up at me before getting up and kissing me on the cheek.
“I’ll give you two some privacy.” She said before walking out the door. I sat in her empty seat.
“Hey champ.” He said in a weak voice.
“Hey dad.” I said smiling at him. “How are you feeling?” I asked grabbing his hand.
“Better now that my son’s here.” He said smiling at me. “I never get to see you anymore.”
“I’m sorry.” I said hanging my head down. “I’ll try to come see you more often. It’s just that I’m really busy. I have to work.” I said sadly.
“My big man.” He said patting my hand. “You grew up to fast. Just yesterday you were in your batman pajamas, running around the house.” He said laughing. I gave him a weak smile as tears brimmed my eyes. I quickly pushed them back, not wanting him to see me cry.
“Yea dad, I remember. I also remember those annual camping trips we used to have.” I said smiling.
“As soon as I get out of this damn hospital I’ll start taking you again.” He said smiling.
“I’ll be waiting.” I said smiling. The door opened and the doctor came motioned for me to come outside. “I’ll be back dad.” I said before going outside where my mom and the doctor were waiting. “What is it?” I asked the doctor.
“Well it seems like the cancer is spreading faster than we thought. We’re going have to start kemo much sooner than we thought.” The doctor said.
“Soon like when?” I asked.
“Tomorrow. I’ll schedule him in for 11:30 a.m. tomorrow.” He said.
“Ok. We’ll be here.” I said. The doctor nodded before walking away.
“I can’t tell him. You have to.” My mom said crying.
“Ok mom. Just go get cleaned up. I don’t think dad would want to see tears on your face.” I said smiling while wiping the tears off her. She nodded before walking away. I walked into dad’s room before taking a seat.
“What was that about?” He asked as I sat down.
“Well dad. Um. You’re going to have to start Kemo tomorrow.” I said quietly.
“I thought my second round of Kemo was for a couple more weeks.” He said confused.
“Well, the cancer is spreading faster than they thought it would so they need to start it tomorrow.” I said holding his hand. He nodded.
“They gotta do what they gotta do. And I have to do what I have to do to get better. I will get better.” He said tightening the grip he had on my hands.
“I know dad. I know.” I said nodding. “Mom will be back soon and I really must get going.” I said getting up.
“Ok son. Bye.” He said smiling.
“See you tomorrow dad.” I said kissing him on the forehead before walking out of the room. As soon as I got in the car the tears started flowing. I told my driver to drive down to the nearest bar. I told the driver he could go home. I sat at the bar and the bartender came over.
“What will you be having?” He asked.
“Shots. You’re strongest stuff. Keep them coming.” I said with my head down. The first shot came and I downed it within seconds. They kept coming. One after the other. When I started feeling a light buzz I called the first person I thought of.
