♫✯Athena’s P.O.V✯♫

The warm Georgia air blew in my face. I loved my small town. Lily Georgia. It’s beautiful down here. Also, it’s a two-hour drive from Atlanta. I’m on my way to Liam’s house. We’re supposed to have a date today. We’re just going to hang out at his house and watch some movies. Liam. I love him. We’ve been dating for two years. We started dating when he asked me to the winter dance when we were 14. He’s so sweet and caring and amazing. I can’t imagine myself with anyone else. I’m in love with him. He loves me too. Sometimes I imagine our future. We’re going to go to the same college, Georgia Tech. Then we’re going to get married and have 3 kids and we’re going to live the rest of our lives together and watch our children do great things! He tells me that some day we’re going to be famous and the whole world’s going to know our name. I tell him he’s crazy, but he’s dead set on it. I wouldn’t mind being famous. I wouldn’t mind leaving this small town behind for Hollywood. As long as I’m with him, I don’t care what I’m doing. You can call me sappy, but I head over heels in love with this kid. I don’t know what I’d do without him. I pulled up in his driveway before turning of the engine and walking up the front stairs to his door. I pulled out the key he gave me and unlocked the door. I walked in and closed the door gently behind me before walking up the stairs to Liam’s room. I opened the door to his room.

“Hey babe, h-“ I stopped mid-sentence. I dropped the key I had in my hand on the floor and stood in shock.

“Athena.” He called as he pushed the half naked girl off his body and got up. The world seemed to have stopped around me. I turned around and ran away. I could feel a crumbling pain in my chest and stopped as I reached the middle of the driveway. The tears that were pricking my eyes finally made an exit. I choked on the tears and struggled to breathe. The calls of my name got louder to the point where they were right behind me. I felt someone tug on my arm and spin me around. I quickly pulled my hand back.

“Don’t touch me.” I said grimacing.

“Athena…” He said looking in my eyes. That made my heart hurt even more so I pulled away from his gaze.

“I thought we were in love. I though you loved me.” I said choking back the sobs.

“I did. I do. It’s complicated.” He said quickly.

“What’s so fucking complicated about it?” I yelled at him.

“Everything! Things that I can’t tell you.” He said.

“Thing you can’t tell me, or won’t?” I asked.

“I-…” He started.

“Right. Did you ever even love me?” I asked, tears still flowing down my face.

“Yes, of course.” He said grabbing my hand.

“I find it hard to believe that.” I said pulling my hand from his once again.

“Athena listen to me. I want you to hate me. You deserve to. Hate me, dislike me, despise me, loathe me, have dreams about running me over with your car. Anything you want, just don’t cry over me. Please. I’m not worth it. I’m not worth your tears. I’m not worth your sadness. I’m not worth it. I want you to find a guy that you truly love. I want you to find a guy the really loves you, a guy that will put you at the center of his world. I want you to do great things and you will. Just forget about me. Forget I ever even existed. Forget me.” He said like he was begging me.

“So you want me to forget two years of my life?” I asked. “I can’t do that, but hating you won’t be that hard.” I said before walking back to my car and driving away. The tears never stopped flowing down my face. I drove to Cassie’s house. I knew her mom wasn’t home because she works night shifts and would be home until around 6 a.m. I texted Cameron and Ari, telling them to meet me there. I knocked at the door and waited for it to be answered. She opened it with a wide smile on her face. Then she realized I had been crying.
