Jeff the Landshark strutted his way out of the cave on his four paws as the storm began to let up and the sun began to shine through. He turned back and waged his tailfin at the campers as they exited the cave. They were shocked when they saw they were surrounded by a desert that seemed to stretch on for miles.
"Okay, so... definitely not Costa Rica," Brooklynn said as she and Yaz headed downward.
"It looks more like... Australia?" Peter asked as he caressed the sandy terrain.
"No way we went that far, though. Right?" Darius asks.
"Hey, I am just tech support," Peter raised his hands in defense, gesturing over towards Kenji. "He's the directional expert." That was when Kenji put his hand in Peter's face. "Kenji, would you please take your hand off my face?"
"What are you doing?" Darius asks.
"Making sure we're not dead," Kenji said, poking Peter a few more times. "'Cause if we're dead, we'd be ghosts, and if we're ghosts, I'd be able to, like... Ooh, go through you."
Peter grabbed his hand and squeezed it a little in irritation as he lowered it slowly. "We're not dead."
"Well, now you know," Kenji said as Peter scoffed and walked off. "You're welcome."
"So, we know where we aren't," Brooklynn said. "Any idea where we are?"
"Nope. Just that we're stranded." Yaz said. "And alone. Again."
"We just gotta assess the situation."
Ben then looked out to the distance and saw something. "Hey, hey, guys! Look at that! Over there in the distance." He gestured off towards the distance where they saw something reflecting the sun. "Something shiny!"
"I see it! Looks like the sun is glinting off some sort of metal thingy?" Sammy guessed.
"Something metal could mean someone had to make it," Ben said. "We gotta go check it out."
"Hang on. You wanna go walking across a blazing hot desert just because you saw something shiny?" Kenji clarified.
"We have no idea what's out there," Darius said.
"Oh, my sweet frightened children," Ben said.
"I'm like several years older than you," Peter muttered.
"So, we're not in "Costa Rica". And we don't know "where we are". And we have "no hope"."
"I don't think he knows how quotes work," Yaz muttered, getting Peter to nod.
"We didn't know how we were gonna survive on Nublar and yet, we did. By sheer will, determination, and teamwork. There aren't even dinosaurs here! So logically, this should be easier. So, let's go out there and, you know, survive!" Ben cheered them on.
It didn't seem to cheer them up, all except for Jeff who had a huge grin as he wagged his tail-fin."
"Why not?" Laura shrugged as she walked off.
"We can at least try," Sammy said.
"Good speech, Ben." Darius complimented as they headed off.
Jeff was walking with a pep in his step as he seemed to be the most cheerful of the whole bunch. He kept on singing that little tune of his as he kept on walking.
"Does that thing know any other tune?" Kenji asked, getting a little tired of it.
"It's a shark, Kenji," Brooklynn reminded him with a sigh. "Be impressed it knows any tunes at all."
They kept walking and Jeff did stop gargling the one tune he knew while everyone else was getting a little tired of the heat.
