My idea of a good day is simple. Wake up, go to school, and go home. Sounds boring, but at least its not complicated. Anything complicated adds stress, and stress results into not thinking straight, and not thinking straight leads to disaster.

So when a distressed Cassidy Farsher comes marching up to me with nothing but tears on her face and a broken heart, I can already tell today's going to be complicated.

I hurry and shove my books into my locker, hoping to escape in time. Before I can even shut my locker, a whaling voice calls out for me.

"Jordan!" Cassidy cries.

"Hey....Cassidy." I say awkwardly. I already know she's going to ask about Nick. Why do girls always come to me for Nick help?

"Do you know where Nick is?"

I mentally roll my eyes, but I don't.

Don't get me wrong, I feel bad for her, I really do. Nick told me she was really emotional but I didn't expect her to even cry at school.

"I'm not really sure Cassidy. Sorry but just try calling him or something?"

"I have! Over a thousand times but it's like he's avoiding me or something." She wipes her tears.

Poor Cassidy. If she only knew.

"Actually, why don't you try the gym? He's supposed to have football practice today. He should be there." I tell her in the most convincing voice I can pull off.

"Oh my god you're totally right! Thank you so much Jordan, you're the best!" She reaches forward to hug me.

She then runs down the hall looking as hopeful as ever.

I take out my phone and hit speed dial. "You're safe."

"You're the best, you know that right?" Nick says through the phone.

Technically I didn't lie to Cassidy. Nick does have football practice today but he's actually at home. He didn't even go to school today. He tells me that he had a test today that he forgot to study for. I'm not even surprised.

"Whatever, just pick me up now or else I'm personally going to be the one to bring Cassidy to you."

"Alright alright. Don't worry, I'll be outside. And don't threaten me! I'm the one giving you a ride home okay?"  I hear him laugh on the other end.

I shove my phone into my bag and and lock my locker. I check both ends of the hallway making sure there's no sign of Cassidy, before heading out the side exit.

God I hope this isn't going to be a daily thing.

After a successful and 'Cassidy-free' ride home with Nick, I told him that there's no need in coming by tomorrow morning. I need to take advantage of the time I have now and study for exams next week. And by that I mean going to school early in the morning and going straight to the library. There's no point in asking Nick to accompany me. There's no way he's getting out of that bed just to study with me.

"Why study in the library, when you can study in bed? Am I right or am I right?" He said to me on the ride home.

I unlock the front door and a wave of relief rushes over me. Nothing feels better than being at home. Especially after this day, I really need a nap or something. I'm already halfway up the stairs when I hear voices coming from the kitchen. I thought aunt Julia was at work?
