Am I a bad person?

Remember when I promised to go to a dinner with one of her work sponsors? Yeah, I don't either. However apparently I DID agree to it, I just don't remember. Too much has been going on I just can't keep up. Exams, University, Drew...

And speaking of Drew, he asked me earlier today to hang out tonight. The problem was that dinner my aunt was talking about is supposedly tonight.

Drew convinced me into hanging out with him since final exams start in two days and he's going off to football camp soon, we wont be able to hang out for a while.

I had to break it to the news to my aunt, and sadly, she didn't take it well.

"Is she still upset at me?" I ask uncle Jim on the phone.

Since my aunt didn't want to attend her dinner alone, she forced my uncle instead.

"She's disappointed that's for sure." He informs me.

"Tell her I'm so so so sorry. I'll make it up to her next time."

I hold the phone against one ear as I pace around my room trying to look for my black jeans. Drew is picking me up soon and I'm not even close to ready.

"What about me? I'm the one that got dragged here because you didn't want to show up." Uncle Jim jokes.

"Alright. I'll make it up to you too." I laugh.

"Are you leaving soon?"

"In a bit. Just getting ready."

"What time do you plan on coming home? Make sure it's not too late. I still don't trust that boy."

"He's not going to kidnap me if that's what you're thinking."

"I still need to meet this kid. Maybe then I'll trust him." He tells me.

"Well don't worry. I trust him, and I promise not too stay out too late." I assure him.

"Anyways, I'll just say goodnight in advance since I'm not too sure when we're coming home either."

"Alright. Have fun! Goodnight." I say with a smile on my face.

"I'll try to kiddo. Goodnight."

I hang up the phone and toss it onto my bed. I hurry with the rest of my getting ready routine and rush with my makeup. I skip the eyeliner and blush and go straight for the eyebrows and concealer. Thankfully I'm just about ready when I see a pair of headlights on my front driveway.

I head out and lock the door behind me. I stride towards Drew's car and wave as I see him through the window.

"Hey babe." He says once I get in. The word unfamiliar to my ears.

"Hey."

He plants a quick peck on my lips which cause my cheeks to go warm.

"Ready for tonight?" He asks.

"What is tonight exactly?" I question. He never told me what the plan was. I just kind of agreed to coming.

"It's our first date as boyfriend and girlfriend. It's a surprise."

That's right. I haven't seen Drew since he last asked me to be his girlfriend. This is our first date as an official couple.

"You don't have to do anything special for me." I say.

"I don't have to. But I want to." He strokes the side of my cheek lightly.

As Drew drives on the road silently, the thought of my aunt keeps coming up to mind. I've never really disappointed her or uncle before. I've always tried my best to make them happy and proud. The closest thing I've done to make them upset would be forgetting to do a chore or coming home with a bad grade. But now it's different, and I'm afraid that aunt Julia is upset at me for real. I know ditching my aunt for my 'new' boyfriend wasn't really nice of me. But I really wanted to see him.
