HDHSJSJSHDHDH I EDITED MYSELF WITH LUKE AND I LOOK LIKE 50 SHADES OF POTATO

sixty seven;

I grabbed the last suitcase, dragging the cases and myself out of the hotel room.

"I'm sorry." Niall spoke behind me. "I didn't know what I was doing... I thought she was you."

"And I thought unicorns existed, but then I grew up." I retorted.

"Avery, I know I have no excuse-"

"You don't."

"But can you please at least not hate me? I'm sorry, I really am. And I'll wait until you're ready to talk to me again, but come on, are you seriously going to let one drunken mistake end this forever?"

I bit my lip and stayed quiet, sitting on the bed.

"We had the perfect fairy tale relationship, Avery. Isn't that what you wanted?"

As nicely as I could, I answered, "Niall, let's face it, what I wanted was Luke."

"That's not all true." Niall told me. "See, if you really did want him you would've tried to make it work again and again, but you didn't do that with him. You did it with me."

"Of course I did it with you, Niall, because I didn't want to want Luke, and I did have feelings for you!"

"Just tell me who do you think messed up more in our relationship. I cheated once and you were holding on to a love that wasn't ours every day."

"That's not true," my eyes were welling up and my head was pounding. "I loved you, Niall."

"Loved?"

"Yeah... It's past tense."

Niall looked hurt. "Avery, we had our lives written in gold. And now because of this..."

"Niall, I wish I could take you back," I told him, "I wish I could tell you I still love you and you could promise it won't happen again, and then we return to New York and continue our lives, but I can't."

"But-"

"I did have feelings for you at some point. I mean, I... I gave you what was the most special thing to me, and trust me when I say I don't regret it, because although now it's changed, at that moment I fully believed you were the right person... And you made me feel special, so thank you."

"I know, but-"

"I'm sorry," I sniffled, "But my heart belongs to Luke."

There was a moment of silence before Niall sighed. "It was my fault."

"What? No-"

"If I wouldn't have cheated, if I wouldn't have let my job position drift us apart we would've had a chance."

"And if I didn't love Luke, we would have had a better chance." I replied.

"Guess it was both our faults."

"Yeah," I answered, "You're a great guy, but you're not mine."

"You're a great girl, but..." His eyes were watered and a tear silently spilled. "I love you, Avery."

"And I love you, Niall... But... I'm not in love with you. There's a difference."

"Okay." Niall nodded. "Can we - Can we at least be friends?"
