"Thomas?" I said carefully to the door. No reply. Light streams out the cracks of the door. It's slightly opened, so I push it. I gasp.
Thomas is trying to close a book glowing blue, but it refuses to budge. Bits of blue light are flying out of it, and zooming out Thomas' open window. I yelped, and shook his arm, and tried to close the book with him.
"I'm sorry!" Thomas said, still pushing on the book. "I checked out another book instead, and hid this one! I didn't want to go behind your back, but I was interested, and I wanted to get an A!"
I growled as blue light still came out. "I don't know what happened. I was just sleeping, and then it opened and started puking light!" When I thought the book was finally starting to close, it exploded.
Sort of.
More about slamming and knocking Thomas and I backwards. We landed(thankfully) on Thomas' bed, and the last of the light leaked out of the book.
I was pretty surprised Mom and Dad were still asleep. I carefully crept forward, being wary of the book. I gave Thomas the 'really' look. He looked just as nervous as I was.
I took one of Thomas' baseballs, and threw it at the book. The book seemed to be surrounded by a forcefield, the the ball bounced off, and hit the wall.
Thomas went over to the book, and slowly held his hand out. His hand couldn't touch the book. He reached, over and over again but his hand just hit the forcefield.
I went forward, and pulled him back. I shook my head. I reached forward myself, but my hand went through. I touched the surface, no problem.
I looked at Thomas. "How'd you do that?" He asked. I shrugged. I slowly picked up the book up, and pushed Thomas. "Hey! Why'd you do that?" I threw the book at him, but of course, it bounced off his chest.
Stupid Thomas. He had one job: to return the book. But he couldn't even do that. I was fuming.
"I said I was sorry!" I rolled my eyes, still mad. Thomas was about to say something else, until his phone rang. He picked it up, and answered. "Yeah?" He put it on speaker. It was Mercury, talking frantically.
"Thomas! Something's wrong. The planetarium microscope is going crazy, and, and-"
The phone crackled, and started up again. "Look out your window!" I pursed my lips, and looked at Thomas. Thomas had a grave expression, and he slowly opened the blinds to outside.
The sky looked like a bruise. It was filled with clouds that were purple, green, and sickly yellow. The clouds were spinning in a circle, like a to-be tornado. And the ground...
It was being churned up, and soon the houses were being separated by large cracks. Police were everywhere, sirens blaring, and people were going outside. It was pure chaos.
We heard Mom and Dad getting up, and yelling for us. I ignored them, my eyes glued to the scene outside.
Thomas groaned. "What have I done?" The phone crackled again. "Guys?"
"Mercury." Thomas put the phone between us. "We're still here."
Mercury sounded terrified. "Radar isn't picking up the phone."
